Ok so be honest cause this shit bothers me constantly. Approximately what age did you guys really notice a drop of in overall performance? 40’s? 50’s?

It drops in segments. Some things you retain longer than others. At 30 I could fight into the finals at national level. At 35 you could train at elite level camps. At 45 I could still travel around the world and walk into any dojo confident. At 53 you could still squat 315 for 22 reps. At 57 Squating requires way more ancillary work for half the weight. At 35 knee pain limits activity. At 45 back pain comes into fore. At 55 training style shifts dramatically. Health becomes more a priority. Downsize happens. Muscle memory comes in more and more to play. Volume becomes more valuable. Stretching and activities to maintain athleticism increase in importance. 60s come and you look better than you should and people are impressed and confused. You have a little stash of PEDs that work really well for you even when your health markers are in line. Ignoring people that annoy you becomes easier. You become selective to whom you provide your opinion. You know what works. You know your mistakes. You know the path. You don't care about opinions so much. You have success in other areas. You really appreciate music that is 40 years old. You realize the best women are not the hottest. You feel fortunate for the old days. You know you are still a badass. You know you are part of a brotherhood. You revel in the house of pain.
Genetics determines much of how you will age and everything else is far behind.
Treat yourself well as you get older and you will do well, abuse yourself and it will be worse.
In my 60s and I can say I am certainly not the stud I was earlier in my life but when it comes to heavy lifting at work I'm the first one they call on.
I look better than any other crew member and some are in their 20s. Besides the superficial part of it I still feel great and weight training will hopefully be part of my life until the end.
Well thanks to all of you for replying. By the sounds of things I shouldn’t make plans to take the bridge just yet. Hell I may have another 20 good years although I definitely didn’t pamper my body so far.
Ok so sorry to go here and again this is a serious question. What about the sex part? Other than maybe having to take the blue pill are there any other changes I need to start preparing for? I’m assuming your mindset changes at some point where you could care less about this shit? Hopefully anyway.

The thing that fucks me up is balance. The first time you misstep or fall it’s like you are watching from outside your body and someone else is piloting it.
Ever drive something like a boat and even though you are willing it to go a certain way with the controls, it just does whateverthefuck it wants to.
The first timethis happened to meit was incredibly disturbing.
That piss dribble thing that started in my late 40s sucked. A glimpse of things to come.

yep had to do that now as well, sadly.50 for me, had to change it up for volume and lighter weights.
Luckily I still do grow despite lowering the weight.

Yup I'm 57 and still soldiering on despite some limitations due to serious injury from years ago. Perhaps you been pushing yourself so hard that brings about many issues and after 40 you will most likely slow down, so a good plan would be to go lighter weights with higher rep volume and I'm doing that now.What, mindless you’re 57?
I’ve always felt old for my age, in a physical sense. Always achey, body just fucking hates me man. 30 was rough in that sense can’t wait to see what 40s has in store for me

Very good advice right there and that should even apply to the younger guys as ego lifting and poor form will most likely bring about chances of major issues later in life. My injuries didn't occur in the gym but did have impact on my training...Early 40's I felt like a tank but in my mid 40's I started having chronic pain from injuries. Around 50 strength started to fall off noticeably but I couldn't train as hard with herniated discs and rotator cuff issues. I had to stop training altogether for about 6-7 months when the discs kept getting inflamed.
Best piece of advice I can give is keep perfect form, warm up a lot and don't ego lift. It seems like the injuries take guys out of the gym more than anything.
Do your ‘roids touch the ground when you squat deep?At 55 (200 lbs) I can still bench 3-plates, squat 4-plates and deadlift 5-plates, so Im hanging on for dear life...
