Aldara Cream should be applied 2 times per week for a full 16 weeks to a defined treatment area on the face or scalp (but not both concurrently). Before applying the cream, the patient should wash hands and the treatment area with mild soap and water and allow the area to dry thoroughly. Avoid contact with eyes, lips and nostrils. Patients using Aldara Cream should receive the following information and instructions: This medication is to be used as directed by a physician. It is for external use only. Eye contact should be avoided. The treatment area should not be bandaged or otherwise covered or wrapped as to be occlusive. Some reports have been received of localized hypopigmentation and hyperpigmentation following Aldara Cream use. Follow-up information suggests that these skin color changes may be permanent in some patients.
