I believe I posted my investment return paperwork for everyone to see. I can put up a graph showing the past 5year fund results. I am in a conservative fund with 50% bank/insurance allocations.

I’d talk to my professional about moving some things around if I was losing that much. But here’s the thing, like I said before, it’s ups and downs and ups again that set trends and you have to be patient. And I’ll say this right here and now. If you’re investing crypto currency your just throwing your money away. That is a gamble and the house has all the odds.

Let’s face it. All politicians are wealthy and represent themselves. Trump was no different. He gave himself a humongous tax break and working guys like me lost tax deductions. My interest deduction from my mortgage was capped at 10k, my 4k dues write off was taken away. For most W2 wage earners they lost $$. You can argue about a strong economy or stock market, but people can’t spend that at the grocery store. Now that we’re paying more because of inflation and tax breaks are gone we’ve fallen even further behind. Meanwhile the Biden’s and the Trumps of the world benefited greatly.

They all just fucking suck.

The Fed standard deduction in 2018 was 24K filing jointly (up from previous years). If you had deductions exceeding that you had the option of itemizing.

I paid just south of 45k in federal taxes alone last year. I’m pretty sure there are VERY wealthy individuals paying less or nothing in comparison. I’m all about paying my fair share but damnit, it should be a little fairer across the income brackets.

Funny though, I knew it was a matter of time before someone made the high earner democrat response. Last year I paid $44,675 in federal, $16,545 to the state on $240,275 income. I actually got a small return from the state ($435) that I will have to declare as income next year on the federal return although that money was already taxed. I don’t have figures on FICA ( I maxed that out by July) SDI, Medicare or the other taxes I paid. I withhold over $1000 in federal every week for 45 weeks of the year, two weeks are unpaid vacation and the other 5 goes to property taxes. My wife is a 1099 and she pays those taxes separately. Her business was a drop in the bucket last year.
So I’m not a “high” (over 400k) earner that democrats are targeting and I’m not average (80-100k) earner that the tax code is fashioned for. I’m in the group that does some of the heavy lifting.

All politicians rely on us to pack that load.

The IRS only allows the pass through deduction on businesses if AGI is less than 330K. Its their definition, not mine. None of this is an attack, I'm trying to understand.
