What does everyone do with the used pins? Garbage is the obvious answer but do you use the red bag/box that docs use for used needles or do you just trash them?

I dont garbage them. I wiat until I go on vacation and toss them into the ocean.

Just kidding. I put them in a sharps container and I drop them off at a sharps recycling facility. I dont throw them i the trash but have before and I would cut the tips off them. My state tends to recycle everything and we have mexicans that work at the landfills and they go through everything by hand. I suppose the magnets will pick the needles up but I can imagine the tax payer headache of having one of these employees stab themselves with a used hypo.
My area requires the use of a sharps container or two liter bottle.

laundry detergent bottle, bleach bottle, or something of the sort. then toss in a random dumpster :)

my wife works in the medical field so she handles it for me, if not i remove the tip and fill a ziplock and rip the plunger out. dispose of them seperately.

I buy sharps containers from the same place I get pins, once its full toss the whole thing and buy another.
^^a bleach bottle or any heavy plastic would work just fine but I think it looks cool to have the same sharps container my dr has in my bedroom lol

This!! No way I would want anyone to see me just dropping of sharps at a recycling facility. The detergent bottles are plenty strong enough and you can just trash them

Preworkout jugs and animal pak cans work nicely.

i was wondering this too vette actually when i was in canada i noticed they were pretty consistent about having sharps containers in public bathrooms, haha dam socialists, thought about just packing my coat pocket full of them for when ever i go to the docs to dispose of them, for now i just fill a laundry bottle and dump in a random recycling bin

Please guys don't put this stuff in the dumpster. Think about it. You can drop off your used pins at any lab no questions asked. I just use an old protein jug hand it to them and say syringes from hrt although they never have asked. Please do the right thing with this kind of item. Your name will not be asked and they are happy to see you do the responsible thing. I've done this for years.

IML Gear Cream!
Place them in a plastic bag then throw them into the ocean. Joking! I had to test trash for suspected illegally dumped toxic waste one time. The municipality contracted our environmental dept to do the sampling and lab work. There's more to the story but I won't bore you. Those coke bottles and etc pop open when crushed and run thru heavy equipment. You wouldn't believe all the needles that were loose and uncapped. They made our job very hazardous and painstakingly slow. There was also plenty of shitty depends, diapers, and dead animals. By far the worst job I ever got volunteered for. I got a strong stomach but I was still gagging a lot.

Go to a pharmacy, buy a sharps diposal kiy for %7, and return it with the prepaid postage. It's safe, responsible, and reduces risk in every way

that's perfect. I thought the sharps disposal service needed some kind of business registration.

well i never felt good about it, but i didnt know what to do either, rite aid thing is awesome, im going to do it tomorrow with my existing stock

be responsible with them guys dont throw them in a dumpster....google sharps drop off in your area and bring them there....honestly they dont give a shit howmany you have or what your doing or ask if you have a scipt....they take them with a smile

I found the sharps box at my local Rx... for $7, and it comes with a $5 coupon refund for sending it in. Great advice bro... thanx!

In texas you can put them in the trash (do not put them into the recycling) as long they're in a heavy duty plastic container. If they are in a container with the bio hazard symbol you may not put that into the trash.

empty pre work out jug with the lid taped shut.

Personally I would still worry about someone getting stuck unintentionally. The sharps box is clearly labeled and if disposed of correctly there are no worries. For $7 and some postage no once can argue. I'd rather spend a couple of bucks for the kit, do the right thing and feel better about myself for doing so. For all we spend on our health and sups a couple of extra $ for safety is a small investment.

I'm going to have to look into this sharps disposal centers.....doubt they have one within 30 miles though.

Here are some links to various Rx stores with the kit. Apparently it costs around $20 to mail back but it would take a long time to fill up this thing so it's worth it. However the one in CVS comes with a $5 coupon for return postage. Or if you have a clinic or disposal center near you that's another option. Again, for most of us this thing will take a long time to actually fill up. The cost or time to dispose of properly is certainly worth it. At least IMHO.

LOL, I can think of so many ways someone can mistakenly get stuck. Everyone from the man who picks up the garbage at my house all the way to the dump site. The benefits of an active imagination I guess... that or I'm overly worried and suspicious.... As for the someone finding out and calling the police... Well, lot's of people who buy these boxes are diabetic or have a family member who need injections etc. So since the box doesn't say "This dood uses AAS" then there's no real reason for worry. Even in my overly cautious mind.

This always was a concern for me.... always hate the idea of throwing needles in the trash, I find it to be disrespectful. I do caprentry, not as a profession, but i keep a nail/screw bucket. I fucking hate it when assholes dont keep track of nails and screws cuz it always ends up on the roads and peoples tires and it drives me fucking nuts that johnny hillbillies home improvement doesnt have enough foresight to clean up properly. That is how I treat needles as well.... there are needle drops all over and if it takes me a little longer to get rid of them properly then that is ok with me. Take alittle responsibility

Not sure if any of you are from California but it is legal for anyone to have needles/syringes. So nothing to be nervous about. And as for other states, people self medicate all the time. Diabetics, girls on estrogen, guys on estrogen , kids on growth hormone, etc. So people need to be able to dispose of the needles and the people collecting them have no right knowing what it is for. So basically dont stress.

This might be a good site

And this is interesting.

[h=1]Overview

The Coalition for Safe Community Needle Disposal knows of no known community sponsored sharps disposal drop-off programs in the state of West Virginia. The state currently allows patients to place used needles/pen needles, lancets (sharps) in a household container such as a laundry detergent bottle, bleach bottle or other opaque sturdy plastic container with a screw-top lid. When that container is full, you should place it in your regular garbage – not recycling.

Though this is still approved in West Virginia it is the least desirable way to dispose of used sharps. Please read below for other options you may try before disposing of your container in the household trash.

PLEASE NOTE: If you have your sharps in a red sharps container, these containers are typically not permitted in the regular garbage because they are marked BIO HAZARDOUS MATERIAL. Bio hazardous material is not allowed in the household garbage. In this case it’s the actual container that is not permitted – not the sharps.

You may want to ask a healthcare facility (doctor’s office, clinic, nursing home, hospital, fire station) if they would be willing to dispose of your container for you. These facilities are not required to take these containers from the public and often won’t because of the cost they incur to dispose of medical waste (they typically pay by poundage). But it may be worth a try

in usedwater bottle, caps back on pin, in trash. or just in trash with cap on... no one touches the garbage here and all city workers use special gloves that do toss the trash in truck... but mostly in used bottle.
