This week we've gotten free pizza, donuts, girl scout cookies, all sorts of shit, but it's been...weirdly fine. Great, even. All the people that normally bog down the ER with non-emergent complaints are staying home (makes you wonder how much more efficient our system would be if people had adequate preventative/outpatient care). Testing for coronavirus just means we sit on people for a while doing nothing while lab does the test. Plus, people are super nice. So many people have said how much they appreciate what we do and are understanding of delays (WHAT A NICE CHANGE OF PACE). It's fucking me up a little, actually. I'm nervous.I'd rather be balls-to-the-walls busy than waiting for the shit tsumani coming our way.All this to say, right now, the heroes are the people dealing with the insanity of our economy and panic. Our small business owners, our shippers, our utility suppliers, and especially our grocery store employees. You guys are having more contact with people in one hour than I might in a day. Be safe and thank you for what you do.And especially thank you to those of you socially isolating. You are literally saving lives. Keep up the good work. Keep me bored.
There are thousands if not millions of people that live paycheck to paycheck that are 100% fucked. Tons of bars and restaurants in Chicago are setting up GoFundMe's to try and get some cash to their employees. People are going to start to get desperate as this goes on. They are expecting the unemployment rate to hit 20%. Venezuela's numbers never even came close to that. I'm extremely lucky my job didn't get shut down.
The Senate is working around the clock this weekend to get something hammered out so everyone is taken care of. Illegal immigrants are totally fucked. Crime will go up no doubt. Majority of them are good people but the bad apples are the ones to watch out for.
Not sure who actually wrote that but as far as the lab tests go. In my state the tests are done here locally. Just an FYI that it does depend on which state you're referencing because not all, are outsourcing their lab tests.
They are more than welcome to go back to their countries if they feel like tax payers are not taking good enough care of their asses . Yes I agree most of them are good people but they are a drain on our society.
I think they have no choice now. Sanctuary cities are shut down. No work for anyone. I might have to drive to Indiana or Wisconsin just to get a fucking haircut.
It's not going to help the economy but will get some cash in peoples pockets so they can survive. The next 3-4 months will be rough but we will come out on the other side stronger. A lot of lessons will be learned to prevent this from happening again. Jobs will be brought back and we will be a more self reliant nation.
Out of all of the recent pandemics they never followed through and created a vaccine for any of them. SARS was a very similar coronavirus and if they had actually made a vaccine for it we probably wouldn't be going through this right now.
Absolutley. We have to do a way better job with the state officials. Options arent always there but this is where it all starts. Our senator is a fucking jackass & mayor. Not sure how they keep getting elected. Our gov is shit to now i tjink of it. They have been handling this epidemic half ass compared to other cities but im sure they arw getting spoon fed from the top on what to do. No one seems to be sure on the best way to do things. Fuck were still struggling with testing
