A Cocaine Nasal Spray Just Received FDA Approval

The new spray, called Numbrino, works as a local anesthetic for surgeries in the nose cavities. And it’s only for adults.

Medicinal cocaine has always been a thing, but now there’s an FDA-approved nasal spray aptly made with totally legal, pharmaceutical-grade white.

On Monday, the pharmaceutical outfit Lannett Company announced that its new cocaine hydrochloride nasal spray product, dubbed Numbrino, cleared two Phase III, randomized, double-blind clinical trials.

"The FDA's approval of our cocaine HCl product, the first NDA approval to include full clinical trials in the company's history, marks a major milestone in Lannett's 70+ years of operations," said Tim Crew, Lannett Company’s CEO, in a press release. "We believe the product has the potential to be an excellent option for the labeled indication. We expect to launch the product shortly…”

While Lannett’s nasal spray may be new, cocaine’s use in modern medicine is not. Unlike weed, which is considered a Schedule I drug in the US — meaning it has no accepted medical use — cocaine is a Schedule II drug, meaning it has some accepted medical use. Although cocaine’s medicinal use is not as widespread as it was at the turn of the 20th century, it has been, in rare occasions, administered as a topical analgesic for minor surgeries.

They've used pharma coke for nasal surgeries for ages, as the article mentions. It turns out to be the ideal drug for it -- anaesthetic + vasoconstriction to control bleeding. This is simply a new method of application.

Most likely it's the cutting agents -- mannitol, inositol, baking soda, laundry detergent... depending on the quality of your source. But the drug itself definitely causes harm as well, usually from long term drying of sensitive nasal tissue and excessive vasoconstriction that can cause actual tissue death, hence the common perforated septum issues.

Cocaine is sister to Lidocaine and has always been used.

I had like 30 stitches in my face after a bar fight (hit w a bar stool) and I got the lidocaine and cocaine blend topical treatment.

I will say this, it does not have the effect that it makes you high, happy or horny, but it numbs you like none other. I was drooling for an entire day after that, couldn't feel my face, mouth or tongue.

Definitely with the powdered form, cut with inositol that we all love, lol. This stuff is probably extracted and made in a liquid solution and used as an anesthetic. My sister in law has alot of complications from her past battle with ovarian cancer and she says she got a cocaine injection (or suppository?) for severe pain in her legs and she said it felt really good.
