Ever since the Mexican government caved in and let El Chapo's son go under pressure the cartels have become more brazen.

The Mexican government has allowed the cartels to gain way too much power by turning a blind eye to hard drug trafficking.

Although I support Trump, Trump believes that he can unite with the Mexican military and our resources and both countries can topple the drug cartels haha..
There is far too many rats and informants on both sides of the fence in Mexico, it is far too corrupt.. it is equivalent to American soldiers and South Vietnam soldiers going into the jungle, and American soldiers being ambushed but the South Viet Cong soldiers run for their lives (because they knew the ambush was coming)..

yes, because the cartel funnels money to them... the same way big pharma runs the FDA in this country.

Last I read, Mexico was about to legalize weed nation-wide, just as Canada has done and of course a bunch of states in the US.

What do you guys think: Should they also legalize coke and meth, cutting out the legs from underneath the cartels?

    Should we do the same?

Did you hear about that White Supremacist that murdered all those Mexicans in the US near THEIR border? Crazy shit.

In Seattle its easier to buy heroin on the corner than find a liquor store.... I don't think legalization will make anything any more available. Maybe the heartland will get to buy good coke and can leave the meth alone, I don't know. But things can't get much worse.

I donít have enough will power. If coke were legal..... Iíd be smoking cigs and drinking every night again. Itís a can of worms.... so, for the sake of Milford Kings mental health... letís just keep the stims and the hardcore opiates illegal. Least that way itís more of a pain in the ass for me to get my paws on.

I hear ya. And I've got a similar weakness.

And the same arguments were made back in the teens (1910's that is) about alcohol and solving the "saloon drunk culture" that existed at the time, and it was a big problem. That led to Prohibition.

But politically, this is a pretty anti-Libertarian argument. Continue or even beef up the War on Drugs that started way back under Nixon in the early 70's, maybe eventually we'll "win"? Hmm.

    Iím not saying that, bro.

im all for Ďde-criminalizationí.... just donít want it legal. Same as prostitution. Donít penalize the girls, help them, but donít let our youth think itís a viable solution in life.

Keep porn out of reach of kids too. Itís a hollow life.

the cartels have grown so powerful and so incredibly wealthy itís far too late to stop them. Does anyone else think the cartels already own parts of California, Arizona, Texas and Iím sure many various cities across our country?

When you put those lenses in the glasses,it definitely gives you a different perspective.. if organized crime can kill a president of the US (JFK), than nothing can stop the momentum of such a grand enterprises that is out there today!

Money talks and the cartel has billions of it. That makes them very persuasive and powerful in a very poor country. Thereís no way the US will be able to stop the cartel. They have too much of the government in their pocket and the public is too afraid, weak and poor to stand up against them as well. Even in a hypothetical situation of legalizing all rec drugs, the cartel would be that Marlboro or Budweiser of the market. Meaning, they would control the market because they are the already established and operating ďbig corporateĒ company. All theyíre lacking is the legal contracts which they would just buy by paying people off or threatening by killing to get the documents and licensing needed.

How many nukes does Mexico have again?

but seriously, the US military would undoubtedly spank the cartel. If need be. You guys seriously think the drug cartels of Mexico have a chance if we declare war?

    no way.

unfortunately, the US benefits from the cartels. Hence, the whole Ďtake them off there feet by legalizing drugsĒ... but that too would result in negative consequences.

I say military expansion 100%. And donít stop at Mexico.... thereís a whole other continent that we could totally exploit.

maybe thatís just the dictator in me, but I think the Western Hemisphere should be the American Empire run under authority of the United States.
