Weinberger claimed to have picked the top 5 because they were in condition. WOW, if those 5 (except Hadi) were in shape, Rosanne Barr is going to be the 2020 champ. Bullshit.
This stupidity spreads down to the NPC. Conditioning used to win shows, but no more. Winners are selected based upon their marketability and how much revenue they will bring to the parent body.
Conditioning can only be had through hard work, sacrifice, and suffering. The current top 3 were products of insulin and laziness. This state of affairs will dramatically increase participation at the local level because now it is not nearly so hard to prepare for a body building contest.
With hundreds of competitors in a show paying $200 a pop local participation is the primary source of income for the NPC and ultimately IFBB.
