That’s so bizarre, what happens when you take caffeine? I ask because my youngest son takes caffeine to wind down at night... maybe you have oppositional defiance order lol

For me GABA and 5 htp are super effective as natural remedies for sleep aid, honestly, when I randomly wake up in the middle of the night and I feel too awake to fall right back to sleep, 1 GABA will put me back in rest mode and I’m right back to sleep

Brother so many people have brains that are wired differently.. I also know quite a few people that can have a cup of coffee and go right to bed.. it's bizarre..
Once in awhile we would hire a straggler for a day or two is that abused prescription pills, some of these guys get all torqued out.. whatever I had a prescription for medicine for pain, they would have me drooling on myself..
It's funny how people's brains are just wired differently, and how supplement and medications affect people differently..

most nights I go to bed around 11pm, then wake up at 3-4am. I will have my daily cup of coffee then have my breakfast which is the exact same breakfast every morning. I'll watch a little tv then go back to bed. So im usually up for 1 to 1.5hrs and go back to bed at 4-5am. Sometimes I'll smoke a little weed to help me go back to sleep, most times I take nothing, I get tired on my own.

Now as mentioned earlier my every nite cocktail that I take between 10-10:30pm to go to sleep is 1/2 zolpidem(5mg), 1/2 Doxylamine(12.5mg), melatonin 10mg. Occasionally if im really tired from long days at work i can sleep with taking nothing but it's rare. I used to take a take 10mg zolpidem and 25mg doxylamine but have been able to cut both in half. If I'm having I really bad night and know im wired and can't sleep then I will also take .5-1mg xanax

Tonight maybe try the combination of everything? Now just a suggestion that I notice for myself, is Gaba and melatonin work best when they are taken everyday, their studies that support that these work better and more efficient and effectively when we take them even when we don't think we need them if that makes any sense.. I was talking with one of the specialist at my sleep clinic center and I was just blabbing on about how I take melatonin occasionally when I can't sleep, and she gave me like a 10-minute run down of how the stuff really works and lead into me that I have to take it continuously.. everything she was saying you made complete sense.. she was at the sizing that works with the Gaba and melatonin the same way.. all the while I was taking "when needed".. who would have thought?!?!?!?

Ok tonight I will add the gaba to my normal cocktail i stated above, I'll leave out the 5htp so that way any difference will just be from gaba.

I only took the Gaba and 5-HTP the one night and I think the problem was I left out the zolpidem and doxy, i only kept the melatonin.

Will let you guys know.

I think that's the common effect -- melatonin gives you all the signalling to get tired and sleep but does nothing after it's worn off in a couple hours. Normal people will keep on sleeping but insomniacs will be up again. I've been there before... stress triggered.

Fortunately sleep is no issue now. It's waking the fuck up without two pots of coffee that dogs me. Guess I need to find my way out of this thread lol.

Yeah that's my problem, most nights I only get 5 hrs then wake up for 1-2hrs, then go back to bed for 2 hrs.

One thing I can say for sure, before I contracted Lyme disease a few years ago I never had any trouble sleeping my entire life!!

Also it was the Lyme disease that caused the hypothyroid and hypogonadism, so it messed up a lot of my brain and hormone funtions

Oof, that blows. Lyme is underappreciated as a life changer. Had a friend with chronic fatigue from it and was incurable, and she was highly active and energetic beforehand. They need to find a real cure since the ticks' huge endemic range is going nowhere.

My issue most likely is from 10 years working overnights. Then throw in having a little one on top of that my sleep was 3-4 hours before work then a nap of 1-2 hours during the day. Did that for 4 years solid. Thanks for the reply

Yeah that's one of my main ongoing symptoms too, chronic fatigue. The other is weakened immune system which causes me to get sick often.

My sleep was worse than normal adding the gaba again last night. So doesn't seem to work for me.
Much better sleep without the gaba last night.... maybe I will start taking it in the morning as a pick-me-up for the day..lol
Does the exact same thing for me. Gets me all edgy be at night. Never taken it during the day, might work lol

This actually could be a good thing.. as we all know we will respond differently but yes maybe the opposite of fact that you're feeling can benefit you in the daytime..
Definitely let us know how you make out using it in the daytime because this has been extremely educational..

Started taking GABA & 5-HYP PLUS+ this week, falling asleep very quickly, and waking up feeling rested... So far I’m a believer!

This goes to prove that every body responds differently.. I'm super excited for you man and I'm glad it's working out for you.. even when you feel good still take the dosage don't treat it as needed, continuously take it. And it gets better and better.

I wish it worked out for you REHH, I know how hard it is to battle sleepless nights, it sucks. Like Vision said this has been educational...

Mr Godzilla, seems like we are somewhat wired the same way when it comes to GABA and 5 HTP for sleep, I’m glad to see you’re getting good rest mano.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I will play with it some more. Interesting..If you look on the label of both bottles they say to take during the day, not night.

Well, this is now worth mentioning .... When I first learned of gaba and 5 htp I tried using it during the day to mitigate some anxiety I was having from prior heavy alcohol use... it worked well enough to try and use it for sleep which I was getting none at that time and now I use it all the time

Thanks bro! Been battling with sleep issues for years, did sleep studies, got CPAP and still 80% of time slept like shit. Hopefully this stuff has longevity because I am feeling the best I have in years when I wake up!

Personally, I can say the cocktail has worked better than prescription sleep aids as far as longevity is concerned, obviously not as strong as an ambien but infinitely better with no known side effects, at least none that I’m aware of

Yeah tried all those prescription aids, gave me weird dreams and felt hung over most of next day after taking them.

I’ve been taking Magnesium for some time a few nights a week with good results, adding this new combo to the mix is the best thing I have found yet!

Far as potency? I think we can agree that they are not equivalent but far as longevity is concerned like you're talkin about, hands down these things will do everything that they are instructed to keep you at least rested if not sleeping.. no hangover and just more of a natural urge to want to sleep.. the 5-HTP really just adds to it it's hard to explain how good the addition is. Tossing in melatonin gummies takes it up just an extra notch for those that have a bit more of difficulties..

also kind of a funny strange Corgi suggestion, cheap the bedroom cool as well,no heavy blankets and pillows slightly on an angle.. these are tips to I found out to make sleeping much better..

And put tape over any little light across your room, even though light on the smoke detector will look like the beacon light from a lighthouse!! When you take any type of sleep aids get serious about it, and lay down for rest

Only serious side effects I am aware of are when combining 5-htp with antidepressant drugs like SSRI's that also boost serotonin levels. This can cause serotonin syndrome.
