I’ve read a few studies online that say the way your body processes fats for fuel during ketosis negate and muscle catabolic effects you would normally see during a period of low carbs and low calories.

I have done keto a hand full of times and can manage to lose between 15-20 pounds the first month mostly due to emptying out glycogen stores. So most of it is water I know, but I’ve been getting leaner and wondering if I can lose muscle doing clean keto?

my protein is roughly 175g, carbs 30g and fat around 140-150g a day.

My scale weight is about 193 right now. I am dropping half a pound to a full pound every morning I weigh myself.

I keep hearing the leaner you get on keto the more muscle you will inevitably lose, is there any truth to that?

You can absolutely lose muscle running keto.

Half a lb of weight loss every day isn't something you want to see unless you're morbidly obese.

Not a keto fan at all

Aww yeah that’s a bummer even on gear? Well I gotta find a new diet out then.

i would beg to differ here.... my experience.. started at 217, started keto to get fat loss down... when i got to 178 i started back at gym.. i changed ratios a bit so i was intaking more protein and fats... kept carbs still at 25 or below(net).. got weight back up to 192 no gear... so i cant see how can lose muscle when they constantly being fed, add gear i would up the ratios even a bit more...but everybody is different but i think basis behind most metabolism is roughly the same to an extent...

Gear will help of course but, it's not ideal at all for cutting unless you're grossly over weight.

I would look more into timing carbs around training. This is what I do with guys and it works well.
