What y'all taking for meds? I got a new doc recently and she wants to eventually switch me to Zoloft or Paxil because they have the actual PTSD indication, and the
meds I'm on now ain't doing shit. Anyone have a good combo they have used, or had success with Zoloft or Paxil?

TIA

Xanax is too addictive but works well

Weed for sure. Zoloft can kill your libido, as with most SSRIs. I was getting good results with topiramate, but then I started getting painful nerve issues and had to stop.

If a doc goes straight the medicine route, I tend to walk away. Just keep an eye on your mood changes, because suicidal ideations can be much more intense on SSRIs.

my wife just got over a super gnarly Effexor withdrawl after stopping cold turkey, her therapist said she was surprised to know my wife is still alive, majority of people who quit like that end up committing suicide.

Smoke weed man. if you ever need to come off these meds or godforbid some shit happens. Its not fucking pretty.

Really hope you can work this out without meds. I really fucking hate hearing about and knowing my brothers and sisters are dealing with this. (assuming it's military related here.)

Paxil made me eat like a cow . Messed with my sleeping and made me a zombie.

Paxil made me last in bed but when I came it was like shooting a golf ball. Still can't decide if it was good or bad.
Imo, drugs like these seem to help one thing but fuck with three or more other things.

IML Gear Cream!
You should have some San Pedro cactus. LSD is supposed to help with ptsd . San Pedro cactus is pretty much mescaline. You can buy it on eBay but I’d let it grow a year or two before you drink it

Weed but in edible form.
I do not like smoking shit. Fucks up the lungs.

Paxil is straight up garbage. I was on it one full year. The brain zaps and horrific withdrawal and nausea was too much. At one point I had zero emotion or feelings.

Only thing I liked was Xanax. I only took it at night before bed. Its the only med that turns off my constant thinking so I can sleep. Never got addicted to it either. Max dose for me is 1 MG. Anything more is too risky.

Kratom is a huge mood booster for me but you need to keep doses reasonable.

Oh, and avoid excessive alcohol.

By far the worst advice I’ve ever seen. There have been some trials conducted by MAPS on the efficacy of MDMA assisted psychotherapy. I wouldn’t suggest LSD or Mescaline to help with PTSD.

I do agree that coming off an SSRI medication can be worse than the actual issue you’re dealing with, as well as having a number of added side effects such as sexual dysfunction. If you’re already on an antidepressant and you feel that it’s the best course for you then I’d continue with that.

I’d try some group therapy and if it’s legal in your state, marijuana. Given that you don’t have a history of substance abuse, marijuana could be very beneficial. However, I wouldn’t combine marijuana with anti depressants. Id suggest you pick one of the other.

Cognitive behavioral therapy, biofeedback, or better yet EMDR. Have you ever heard of EMDR? It is specifically for treating trauma. It is very intense but also very effective.

Good luck my friend. Message me if you’ve got any questions about EMDR therapy.

if you are feeling depressed I suggest you volunteer. I used to volunteer at homeless shelter and it gives you a good perspective on what problems in life a real and what is just nothing being blown up, after a while when people befriend you and you see the value just your presence gives to another human you get a balance that helps you cope, your existence is vital to others, you are needed in this life

That’s some solid advice. Getting out of yourself and helping others is a great feeling. I get more out of working with my sponsee and seeing the lights come on in his head than any drug could ever give me. Being of service helps me stay clean and it is a truly humbling experience

Smokey!!! I'm not a bro, but I am a Zoloft fan. I was terrified at first, but it's good stuff. Once you're on a steady pace with it, it is literally the easiest medication to take. I've been on and off for quite a few years. It's my go to every time when I start slippin down the slippery slope.

One quick thing here.

You need to do so free research on these meds and colitis.

I ran zoloft for about 2 months and developed cologeneous colitis during that time. I would say it was coincidence but, it's a form of colitis that's usually only found in middle aged women and users of anti depressants.

Thanks bro....I've been on and off them for years. On right now.

Haven't smoked weed since the 7th grade but thinking about it.

Yes. I don't like taking about it on here much because there are a lot of military bros here who probably had it worse than me. And childhood stuff too.

Paxil made me eat like a cow . Messed with my sleeping and made me a zombie.

lol....that's all I need

Can't take Xanax with my sleep apnea. Fucks with it too much.

Kratom. I should go back and try it. You think it's ok with the antidepressants as an adjunct? thanks

OK....good to know...thanks. My psychiatrist is a PTSD specialist and does EMDR.

Hi Belle! Did it make you real sleepy and increase your appetite? That's the major complaints I hear about it. Did it make you feel happier? thanks

It made me drowsy, but I took it before bed so it didn't effect me. I didn't see an increase in appetite either, but I stayed on the conservative side with the dosing. It really helped with managing stress, and just my reaction to things. I think that's what I noticed the most. It took the anxiety down enough to think things through better. It's not a happy pill, but it does help with like general well-being and managing day to day emotional stress and stimuli.

I think she's going to take me off the wellbutrin and put me on that so thank you. Looking good, btw ;)

Does she go with Sativas (I assume)? Depending on if you can get specific strains, I love a good Sativa when I need to get shit done. JillyBean was my all-time favorite, but I am trying to get some Strawberry Cough. Three or four good tokes of that and there are no more concerns.

omg wellbutrin is the worst from what I've heard. I've heard soooo many horror stories about it. You'll be better off.
Why thank you sir :)!

I am currently on Wellbutrin, and I feel no side effects. It is actually much safer than SSRIs, but still has some side effects. I tried topiramate and had to stop immediately. The peripheral nerve pain was like plunging my body in battery acid when showering.
