    Quercetin Phytosome makes triathletes 11 percent faster
    Triathletes become considerably faster if they use an easily absorbable form of quercetin. Supplementation with quercetin also helps these athletes to recover more quickly and suffer less from muscle pain and cramps.


    Quercetin Phytosome is a product of the Italian company Indena, [[indena.com] which markets Quercetin Phytosome as Quercefit. In 2018, researchers from Indena published a trial in Minerva Medica in which 48 amateur athletes aged 30-40 took part in a sprint triathlon 8 times for two weeks. A sprint triathlon mans that the athletes swim 750 meters, cycle 20 kilometers and run 5 kilometers.During the experiment, approximately half of the subjects took two capsules each day, each containing 250 milligrams of Quercetin Phytosome.
    The other half did not use quercetin. The athletes in this group did not receive a placebo.
    During the experiment, the athletes in the supplementation group succeeded in making their times faster by a sloppy 11 percent. The athletes in the control group also got faster, but their times decreased by less than 4 percent.

    The athletes who used Quercetin Phytosome reported less muscle soreness after their triathlons, less muscle cramps and a shorter recovery time. The researchers found less free radical activity [PFR in the table above] in their blood, which may say explain how quercetin improves the athletes' performance, the researchers suspect.
    "Reduction of oxidative stress by oral supplementation results in improved performance in triathlon", write the Italians.
    "Given the well-established anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory activity of quercetin, it is possible to conceive that this supplementation has contributed to improve performance and endurance in the evaluated subjects."
    "The results of this pilot analysis suggest that the oral supplementation with quercetin phytosome may result in improved training and performance in amateur triathlon athletes."
