    I went 10 day's without electricity

Holy shit it didn't feel like that long but I literally went 10 day's without electricity and I think I could have gone longer. Down in the southern states (no mention) it gets up to 100 degrees with 20% humidity. The shitty part was I didn't get a generator until day four.

My family left on day three for family and I stayed behind to work and pay the bills. I purchased a window unit, a fan, and and some food to bbq everyday after work. I was living like a true neanderthal. To my surprising I came home today and electricity was back on. Thanks everyone for standing by. Now all I need is a dam gym to open back up. PS stay away from the Gulf Coast this is the third flood/ natural disaster in my life.

Did you have a generator at least and temporary power or no power?

We did 10+ days last year during a storm with no power but we had a generator about 18hrs a day that ran the fridges and we could use a stove

No hotels had any rooms in the entire state and surrounding state

Temps were only in the 80s so we were ok

I had to go to the gas station every day and fill up 10 gallons of fuel morning and night and it cost us close to $6-700 bucks when all was said and done just to keep the TV on and the food from going bad

It was not fun at all. We had no internet either

Im glad you are ok and powers back on

Makes you appreciate things more that is for sure.

Definitely a shitty situation, I have family that lost everything with this past storm and have decided to relocate.

Damn...I live in the midwest. I've got a 20kw generator that kicks on when the power goes out. Runs on propane. Alot of rural folks have them in our area.

Yeah I got a generator on day four but the same problem finding gas still to this day is a f****** hassle. I would only run the generator at night and maybe an hour or two during the day. Hell yeah brother I will be soaking it up tonight.

A tree fell on my house but the damage was minimal. I'm about sick of this shit as well. As soon as the kids are 18 it's sayonara.

As I remember, we built our home 10 years ago that it didn't cost me any more than 6k for the 20kw Generac, plus all the electrical boxes, and installation. I think without looking back at bills, it was just a little over 5k. Where I live, prices and labor are cheaper...I've never regretted that investment!

Sorry to hear that man, and hopefully you all will find a better place!

Someone I knew in Jersey had his house badly damaged and his neighbor's home totally gone. Ida was one bad storm!

Where I am (NH) there was some flooding but thankfully nothing major.

My brother bought a 25KW generac that ran off gas...ran him $15k but well worth it. As it was for a large house it was the size he needed.

You are probably right....a helluva lot of stuff has gone up in 10 years...plus you have to figure in, it adds to the value of your investment in your home.

Glad that you are back up man . Six or seven years ago I wanted to buy a generator before a hurricane and the wife complained about the money so I waited . Than we had two weeks in the ga heat with no ac . I now have a generac but have not had to use it yet .

Glad to hear ... in the south too, installed a stand-by generator after losing power for four days last year. Can run the whole house but hope to never use it. Have friends SW of NOLA, its a mess down there.
