Dangerous pathogens found on children’s face masks

A group of parents in Gainesville, FL, sent 6 face masks to a lab at the University of Florida, requesting an analysis of contaminants found on the masks after they had been worn. The resulting report found that five masks were contaminated with bacteria, parasites, and fungi, including three with dangerous pathogenic and pneumonia-causing bacteria. Although the test is capable of detecting viruses, including SARS-CoV-2, only one virus was found on one mask (alcelaphine herpesvirus 1).

The analysis detected the following 11 dangerous pathogens on the masks:

Streptococcus pneumoniae (pneumonia)
Mycobacterium tuberculosis (tuberculosis)
Neisseria meningitidis (meningitis, sepsis)
Acanthamoeba polyphaga (keratitis and granulomatous amebic encephalitis)
Acinetobacter baumanni (pneumonia, blood stream infections, meningitis, UTIs—resistant to antibiotics)
Escherichia coli (food poisoning)
Borrelia burgdorferi (causes Lyme disease)
Corynebacterium diphtheriae (diphtheria)
Legionella pneumophila (Legionnaires’ disease)
Staphylococcus pyogenes serotype M3 (severe infections—high morbidity rates)
Staphylococcus aureus (meningitis, sepsis)
Half of the masks were contaminated with one or more strains of pneumonia-causing bacteria. One-third were contaminated with one or more strains of meningitis-causing bacteria. One-third were contaminated with dangerous, antibiotic-resistant bacterial pathogens. In addition, less dangerous pathogens were identified, including pathogens that can cause fever, ulcers, acne, yeast infections, strep throat, periodontal disease, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, and more.

Only where it's required as some businesses here still require masks but my gym totally dropped its mask requirement a few days ago.. My state dropped its state of emergency June 11 and now is just an advisory. Got to admit the total caseload here is just about 200 active cases but the new variants are being carefully monitored.

I for one would LOVE to totally stop wearing a mask but still have to follow the rules especially when I hop on the train or fly.

For all of you that are not vaccinated, get the vaccine as it will save your life!

I use a Xiaomi mask with replaceable filters and a cooler for air circulation. An excellent solution, perhaps a little expensive for a mask, but it is comfortable to breathe and has a good degree of protection

No shit this is true. I'm outside and I see this moron drive by. He is by himself and wearing a mask. While driving down the road, he has his window down.

So let's summerize this....he is worried about covid-19 so much he has to wear a mask when driving solo, but he decides to have his windows down while worried about catching covid-19.

What am I missing???

Oh, and he is 20 years younger than me, his chances of dying from covid-19 are nearly nil. And don't say it is to protect others, it doesn't work that way.
