Our society is so hyper sexualized at this point the age of consent argument is a waste of time. I have a very unpopular opinion on pornography. I think there needs to be some serious restrictions put on availability and reach of pornography in this country. It degrades our youth, de-motivates them, de-moralizes them and creates this idea of “empowerment” through self degradation and lack of character.

it contributes to “rape” culture as well.

I think, 21 should be min age for both performers and viewers.

I bet no one on this forum agrees with me on that though... haha

I agree with you. Our priorities are all fucked up. Especially since we changed the laws to not allow tobacco purchases until someone turns 21.

I guess I didn't explain that good enough? I'm saying that's typically when the last few virgin stragglers are deflowered. If the minimum age is 18, it just means every junior and senior in high school is breaking the law. Do we really need to give the government more reasons to arrest people for living their lives? BTW, I'm not saying it's ok for guys in their 40's to go cruising the high school.

Do kids not go parking any more? Is that a thing of the past? Back in my day, getting a license meant hotel on wheels.

age of consent is meant to try to protect kids from entering relationships in which they are too naive and subject to manipulation. Because we all know kids and adults never break laws.

it’s almost impossible for parents to protect kids from this considering how sexualized everything is these days. Granted, back in the day, women were bearing children at much younger ages than today’s society but I believe due to circumstances those women were much more responsible than kids in today’s world.

As a father the only thing I can do is to educate my children on what is appropriate and what is most important and to be able to keep lines of communication open and comfortable enough for my kids to feel confident to talk to me about anything and everything, not an easy task. Laws and government regulations aren’t gonna keep my kids safe. Especially in today’s weirdo leftist climate. Where people like Oprah insinuate that if a kid thinks it’s ok, then it’s ok. Sick bitch.

Seems females are more mature physically and less emotionally/mentally then in times past nowadays, and a lot has to do with lifestyle and food. Associating the readiness with an age or comparing it to other countries where the culture is very different and responsibilities taught and enforced at a young age is ridiculous. It's the same reason why the young men are so ill prepared for the workforce in this country and are getting out worked

The general age of consent in Mexico is 17. The ages of consent in the countries of Central America range from 14 to 18.
