Athleticon Delayed Until April 2022 After Olympia Scheduling Conflicts

After it appeared that the 2021 Olympia would conflict with the first ever Athleticon event, promoters have decided to delay the event

Fans were a bit concerned when it looked like Athleticon would be taking place at the same time as the 2021 Olympia. However it has now been revealed that the contest will be taking place for the first time next year instead.

There is a palpable excitement to see what the Athleticon looks like when it finally happens. The massive new bodybuilding show and sports expo is being promoted by Dany Garcia and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Originally expected to go down in 2020, the event was understandably delayed due to the global pandemic. After all, a large component of this expo involved packing as many fans into the arena as possible for the different events, a task that is a little hard to pull off nowadays, to say the least.

It was then revealed that the new date for the first ever Athleticon was going to be on October 9-10th in 2021. That seemed like a great plan, until it was recently announced that the 2021 Mr. Olympia will also be taking place at the same time.

This left fans concerned, as they feared being forced to choose between these two monumental contests. The same worry likely also was felt among the athletes too, as some have been debating which show they would compete in.

However, fear not as reports have revealed that the Athleticon is now being delayed once again. This time it has been pushed back to sometime April of 2022, so as to avoid the conflicting schedules between this and the Olympia.

Obviously this comes as disappointing news to those who have been waiting to see what this event offers, and how it will impact the greater bodybuilding landscape. That said, the decision to move it seems to be the right call, as it is tough to compete with the Olympia.

Good call but why couldn’t they just pick a different weekend?!?!

It is logical that they moved the date again. They will not conflict with the Olympics and will have more time to prepare. They could not put the date too close, bcs the viewer needs time between two grand events.
