This is dark, but I'll give you a honest answer. When you get older you come to realize life itself is nothing but loses until there is nothing left to lose but your life ... There is no way to deal with it because it's a poker game that all you can do is raise and bluff. You can never fold ? Death smiles at us all, and all a man can do is smile back

I do like the Japanese take on it. They have no word for coward, or surrender. Every man is responsible for the time and manner of his death. There is no shame to run away, to fight another day, or to fight to the bitter end of his life. It's all just his responsibility to decide.

Or I like ancient roman thinking. " We are nothing but shadow and dust" , or, if you like, " life is nothing but a dream, Grand and terrifying " ...

My personal favorite is Jesus Christ said " Don't cry for me, I go to a better place, I go to the Father ". That I take to mean that this life is the struggle, the after life is the reward ?

Lost my best friend last year . It really su ked but at least he's not suffering anymore . Thought about getting another one but I still can't believe he's gone . It was my dog . I learned a long time ago money and pussy have no home so worrying about them is just a waste of time .

Very sorry if you are going through a tough time or a break up. It definitely can be very difficult. I certainly have personally dealt with it.

In my experiences when my initial work in the med field was counseling, psych and group therapy, I will say this. For many people the grief is very similar to a death. I mean the grief of some breakups is as difficult and as traumatic as a death is. For some people. I have seen some people bounce back from it super simple, and others require medications (like xanax) or beta blockers to heal from it.

It can take weeks, months, years, but time did seem to truly benefit everyone, regardless of severity. Staying super busy after the fact also was a huge factor in healing times.

And that's not the answer anyone wants to hear.

I genuinely wish you and your situation the best and hope you can find peace immediately if anyone here is going through such a loss.

Bro, so I was with a woman for 10 years (basically my entire 20's) Feel like we went through alot with each other. We both were in college in our 20's and at the end we were established in our careers. Lots of life changes from age 20-30. We had a good life. Hate to sound like a bitch bro but I was pretty devastated when we broke up. We never married. I honestly took me several years to get over it. Didn't cope with it tremendously well. Was taking lots of xanax and drinking heavily. Ugh.

I've lost so many people and things in this life and some of it hurt like a mother fucker, there really isn't any good way through it, You just have to keep going. It is true that the phone can ring and change your life and that when one door closes two more open. I like to say "Everything will be ok in the end, if it's not ok then it's not the end"

Never really had to suffer a bad heartbreak. I mean I've been dumped before, but it never really bothered me much. Just meh. Too many new opportunities out there to be upset, that and being single is an exciting prospect. I've never been a super emotional person anyway.
