In my area there is a bridge that has at least 10 to 20% of all commerce in USA crosses it. They have never ever agreed to build a sister bridge or a bigger one(it is needed) if it ever fails it screws up everything in the area. They shut it down completely for 6 weeks due to a truck that caught fire and damaged it. It caused havoc. Then they shut down one other bridge and started construction in several other areas all at once. It is currently partially closed getting overhauled.... As if it was coordinated to cause the most disruption as possible. I think they did it as a deterrent to keep people from traveling (for several reasons)
. It is on I75 a major corridor interstate highway.

A good reason to now get an infrastructure bill passed so that we can get to work repairing critical infrastructure to ensure that the critical waterways and highways are kept in good shape to protect commerce. This should be the wakeup call to get this done.

I looked at the map, there’s an easy way around that. Truckers will always find a way around, it’s our job.

You wouldn’t happen to be talking about the Cincinnati bridge would you? I travel it a couple times a week it’s not too bad roughly a 10 min delay but Cincinnati in general has been under construction for the last 8 years I’ve been going through there.

It's been over 20yrs since I traveled that stretch on a semi regular basis. But yeah, there are other options, just not fun ones probably. Would hate if I lived there and that was part of my daily commute.

That break pic was pretty insane.

In most cases you can find another interstate to go around with a minor delay but sometimes you gotta get off the interstate and that can be a huge headache. A lot of these drivers out here are inexperienced and can get themselves into trouble because they don’t know what to look for.

And yeah that break was crazy.

Pfffffffft, I'd have that bridge fixed and stamped, "good enough" in a couple of hours for just a few thousand bucks. Just fill the tube steel with concrete and then weld some 1/2 inch steel plates on all four sides and call it a day. Keep an eye on it and inevitably, when cracks form again on the long side of the break, just weld in some more plates. Fuck it. That would be good enough for me to drive on it with a 53 footer hauling 44 tons of bananas. People are such pussies now-a-days.

Ain't no slush money in good enough, we need engineers, Army corps, govenor approval and brother in laws with hands out and three months of traffic jams so we know we are getting a good job,
honestly I hope the infrastructure bill gets some money because philly area is torn up and if they can't complete the work we are fucked..:coffee:
