I definitely agree with this and from the information that I have gathered and from what I believe was translated is the same thing you said, the sink or swim mentality.

That would be a near impossible question to answer realistically, but I could only try to imagine or pretend how my mindset would be. When I look at my loved ones around me, historically they have not made any real bad or irrational decisions that were life-changing, they have good judgment and morals. I would be confident that they would live to the best of their abilities, then again money changes us.
I know from myself if I inquired that type of wealth through inheritance I would most definitely need a mentor or a life coach to keep me in check. Naturally, I believe any one of us would want to know that our loved ones are taken care of.

I also cannot wrap my mind around donating considerable amount of finances to these institutions. I could not possibly imagine what good that would do, but I do know that the majority of universities do come out with some of the most groundbreaking discoveries because of endless funding.
I would need to see a lot of data and something to convince me that it would be going to a good cause. I believe that we all share the same feelings about these institutions, and this leaves us all baffled.

The guy is quite remarkable. Knowing that he was a student there and seeing how successful he is it made me wonder if the donations that the mysterious man Bill Gates does have good intentions after all. Hmmmm...
