Interesting stuff. Potent ghrelin/GH secretagogue receptor agonist that passed phase III clinical trials but ended up being refused for marketing by the European Medicines Agency because it had "marginal effect on weight gain" in cancer patients and the risk was "too high" even though there's almost no negative effects reported. So they just nixed the whole thing instead of looking into other uses like dwarfism, HIV, etc like MK-677. I'd imagine Helsinn just decided not to press it further because of the costs for further trials and lessened use spectrum which in turn makes the money not worth spending.

It's proven to significantly increase plasma GH, IGF-1, and IGFBP-3 in humans without affecting prolactin, cortisol, insulin, and glucose among others.

Sounds like pretty promising stuff.

How To Use Anamorelin​

As Anamorelin is a novel, non-peptidic, and orally active drug, subjects in all the clinical trials were administered the varying oral dosages of Anamorelin.

• In phase 1 clinical trials for one of the studies used 25-50 mg units of Anaamorelin, and appetite increased by 18.4% compared to placebo within 30 minutes. The effects were experienced for 4 hours.
• In another phase 1 clinical trial of one of the studies used 50-70 mg of Anamorelin was administered in 29 healthy volunteers, and weight gain was quite observable as compared to placebo with minimum side effects observed.
• The phase 2 clinical trials involved the use of 50mg of Anamorelin for 3 days. A significant increase in body weight was experienced amongst the subjects involved in the studies.

An important precaution of consuming Anamorelin is to use it while having an empty stomach to ensure better efficacy (7). This is because as Anamorelin works by increasing the appetite, eating before might interfere with the physiological pathways.
