I have both. But had Tutanota first and like it better. Both encrypted and supposedly Tutanota doesn’t keep logs etc.

It's readable regardless, It's just email. Both of them encrypt in transit and at rest, but once it leaves the platform, it's hit the internet. Still safe but not really any different than any other email being transported encrypted either which everybody does at this point. Only change is it's also encrypted at rest which many don't do.

It is dangerous to suggest people to use services like gmail and make them think they are the same as other encrypted services like protonmail. There is a big difference between protonmail and companies like gmail. Proton is open source and you can actually view the source code yourself to see the end to end encryption source code. it is stupid to use services like gmail if you care about your privacy because there is no encryption and every single email you send is being read without effort. If protonmail was so readable, then majority of the sources would be busted. The feds would simply just need to read the protonmail emails from raw suppliers and see where all of the kilos of raw powders are going(when they give tracking to the source) and then bust the people on the spot. 95% of sources would be taken down from being able to read protonmail and seeing when the raw shipment is going. But this does not happen because the protonmails are actually encrypted. I am not saying that you should trust protonmail 100% because they can be hacked and source codes changed etc . No such thing as perfect OSPEC but saying that protonmail and gmail is the same thing and makes no difference is idiotic.
