normal food didnít even cross my mind. I always over complicate things.

I want to be able to survive a year completely self sufficient.

I donít know why these things have been on my mind but they are and Iím not going to feel comfortable until I have things in place to survive in case something happens.

Amazon sells 5 gallon buckets for long term food storage. Fill them with food you would normally eat, I use a rotation system so everything is always fresh

I used to sell messages at 25$ a case now its went stupid, even importing from other countries has become a $ maker with importers saying everything gets seized over bureaucratic bs, if all your shit is getting seized all the time you must not have something right. Prices tho have skyrocketed best place to get mres still is off a base if you can find a store selling them cheap. I got mine in KY fort brag every year when I go to the big knob creek shoot (corona shut it down)

Costco has a 2 week supply of emergency food for one person, in a sealed plastic container with a 25 yr shelf life for 60 when you can find them I just picked some up last week or so

Those high protein oatmeal pouches I linked you to are amazing. tastes great and has decent macros. I have a protein shake and one of the pouches for breakfast most days. you can use the empty pouch to measure the water and then just microwave in a bowl for 90 seconds. I switch to old fashion oats every once in a while and just add peanut butter after its cooked.

    A year? That's quite a storage of food...but I get it.

I bought two cases of MRE last month. 120 a box. But good for a few years.

Got them at Army Navy store. Just call ahead.

Those are always on the grocery list. More so the traditional.

How long do you think the actual shelf life is ? It has to be more than a year I would think.

You need to make a sub forum for prepping. or maybe even start a whole new board ??

You still have the setup for a forum ?

    not at all really.

not to mention the fact I can grow my own food and hunt. I donít think the world is ending but in my lifetime something devastating is going to happen and neither myself or my family will do without or need to depend on anyone else.

Some things can be stored for decades at a time.
