Creatine-HMB combination increases athletes' testosterone level
When athletes who train intensively use both creatine and HMB, their testosterone level increases. Because the testosterone:cortisol ratio in their blood also increases, this could mean that they can recover more quickly and thus perform better. Spanish sports scientists at the University of the Basque Country come to this conclusion in a human study published in Nutrients.
Study

The researchers divided 28 male rowers, who were among the 12 best teams in Spain, into 4 groups.During the 10 weeks of the experiment, the rowers in the placebo group were given a shake with protein every day. The rowers in the other groups also received a shake every day. The first experimental group was given a shake which also contained 3 grams of HMB, and the second group recveived a shake with 3-4 grams of creatine. Finally, the third experimental group was given a shake with both HMB and creatine.
Results
Creatine supplementation and HMB supplementation had no effect on testosterone levels, but the combination of those two supplements increased testosterone levels. At the same time, the combined supplementation resulted in an increase in the testosterone: cortisol ratio in the blood.

Supplementation with creatine, HMB or a combination of these two did not affect markers of muscle breakdown, such as LDH and creatine kinase.
Conclusion
"The combined use of these two ergogenic supplements could promote faster muscle recovery from high-intensity activity but without preventing muscle damage", write the Spaniards.

Betagen by EAS. I used that in 1996 and that is really when HMB and creatine combos were popular.

Sounds like a good post workout combo to possibly add to the regimen. Wonder how much HMB is : like 500g. It usually is too overpriced to use the amounts that are effective compared to cheap creatine monohyrate. If it is cost effective; I will add it to my regimen for 2 months to see if it helps. I am all about faster recovery; especially with safe supplements like HMB. Like $70 per 500g on bulk supplements. If it is cheaper somewhere; post up. Creatine is about $6 per 500g.
