Affirmative action is bad for blacks... sends a message that they are inferior and need assistance to of some kind. That they cannot compete on an even playing field.

Everyone else sees them taking a job they weren't otherwise capable of getting. Or that they only got it bc of affirmative action and being black. Reverse racism.

Affirmative action doesn’t solve anything, giving people advantages because you feel sorry for them isn’t treating them equal either

Read "The Soul of Black Folks" by Dubois.

There is a lot to be said for the pride of making it on your own steam as compared to a hand out.

But what I am saying is affirmative action is cultural conditioning in a way that tells black they are inferior. This concept may be hard to grasp.

In the long wrong, it would be better if a person of any race or creed achieves without an added advantage or crutch....it presupposes you actually NEED it. Dig?

It’s not giving people advantages because someone feels sorry for them, or giving them something they don’t deserve.

The way it’s supposed to work is if there are two equally qualified candidates for a job, you give the job to a minority who historically would have been ignored for the position. And not long ago. Women, Indians, people with disabilities and yes, black people. It’s only in the tiny minority of cases that the system doesn’t work as intended. Small price to pay. There are plenty of fully functional old boy networks around anyway. What the hell do we have to bitch about FFS?

I didnt go looking for handouts. So some black dudes mom was a crack whore and his dad got shot dead cuz he was dealing drugs in a gang. Why should the govt gives this black guy handouts over some white guy who came up just as bad? Affirmative Action is bullshit but even that is not enough for them as August points out.
The fact is, it shouldnt matter what situation you came from or what your ancestors did 150 years ago. We shouldnt be teaching these peeps to leach off the govt and expect handouts and then complain when they dont get them. Almost everyone as an adult can make a decision to work hard for what they want, steal what they want or expect handouts and take whatever handouts they can get.
 
You are joking right? You missed my point earlier. The fact you say the way it is supposed to work tells me you know it doesnt work this way. I just had a recent incident where an incompetent black person was hired for a VP position because they needed a black person in that spot. Turns out the company didnt do enough research. This guy didnt and couldnt do shit and it was apparent in the first month. Then to top it off it took almost a year for the dumb company to fire the guy because they wanted make sure they guy couldnt come back on them and sue.
This bullshit happens all the time.

social security is our money to begin with. Although there are leaches who never paid a dime in and scumbag presidents who stole it.... inheriting family wealth isn’t a crime nor is it the same thing as forcing citizens to pay for handouts for other citizens.

maybe the NBA should have a white guy quota... maybe Hollywood should be the only ones that pay reparations? This whole thing is dumb, I feel bad for black women. They are the ones getting ignored by society.

Bro... in the private sector, if I am a business owner, I hire who I want to pay.

If I don't want a black guy working for me, I don't hire him. End of story.

I think in the public sector, there isn't really the discrimination you are trying to talk about. Doesn't exist.

And if you aren't hiring young black ppl then you are as much of the problem as any "old white dude."

Consider also, the ppl who aren't comfortable with blacks on their property? Could it be bc they see the high crime committed by young blacks? That it makes them nervous to see young blacks who might be out to harm them?

True or not, they have a right to feel afraid. A right to protect their families.

You know how you get real change? Education. Votes.

These two things empower ppl for real. Creates business and wealth. And changes legislation that isn't "fair"

I’m the boss. I’m a contractor. The people that work for me are subcontractors. The companies that assign us work don’t care if you’re white or purple. All they care about is quality of work, on-time percentage and customer satisfaction. The last one is the potential issue. Enough complaints and they pull your work, regardless of merit.

I’m left to decide whether to hire a black kid and run the risk that it affects my livelihood. Because racism is still an issue. Definitely where I live.

Doesn’t make it ok.

It’s not ok with me either, Augustine made a good point i was about to make, like it or not blacks are perceived negatively because of all the crime and shooting and other bullshit that goes on in the ghetto, so are those rich white guys really racist or do they just not want to deal with the bullshit that could possibly come along with hiring them? If you want real change it has to come from the individual, people need to get their ass to school or work instead of out in the streets getting into trouble and there’s no affirmative action or any other bullshit law that’s going to change that
