A knot formed the day after injection, hasn't gone away since, should I be worried ?

I always take precautions so this is not an *infection* post, but this is the first time something like this has happened. I was using .5ml of Omandren oil with a 25G needle, and the spot I picked was my right hand lateral deltoid. Not the first time I used this spot, nothing ever happened before. Anyway, everything seemed ok the day of the shot, but the day after I felt a *charlie horse* and a swollen *bump* as best I can describe it. This has been about a week ago, is this common, how long should I avoid that place for ? Basically any info you guys can give me will be great. Thanks!

So if you aren't showing signs of an infection.... give it time. Certainly don't use this site until it has fully gone away.

Don't panic. I don't think it is much of anything to worry about. Just might take a bit for the oil to disseminate into the body.

Happens from time to time...Iíve had one for two days now..keep on eye on fever symptoms and changes in appearance of the knot...put some heat on it and massage the area with isopropyl alcohol and it should loosen up for ya.

I had this same issue about a month or so ago with a vial of test cyp. The knots lasted about a week and got extremely sore. They went away without any issues I figured it was possibly the oil.

I still have the remnants of a rather large knot on the left ass cheek thatís about 2 1/2 wks old. Normally Iíll get the knot in my delts if I try to put to much in, but just keep eye on it making sure itís not infected like others have said. About a month ago my wife was injecting in my left delt and let the pressure push the needle out as she was pushing the plunger, this was bad to say the least. I had oil all under my skin and a larger knot that was pretty painful, but I kept heating pad on it a few times a day and it still lasted little better than a week.

Knots SUCK. I would not rub them, they will subside with heat and time.

Cant get infection by just rubbing. Need an infectious agent present for infections. Sterile abcess are due to irritations caused by drugs or foreign objects.

I agree and Iím not an MD, Iíll clarify my previous post. If youíre body is fighting off the infection off from the foreign substance you injected, you may believe it is a sterile abscess and rubbing it could spread that infection if in fact it is not sterile

I have a calendar and I keep track of my injections, where, when etc etc, this was on Saturday the 3rd. Today I just finished a shower and I palpitated the entire delt and I can't feel the knot anymore. Just a general area that's a bit more tough, but it should subside in the next few days. There were no signs of infection, fever etc etc. I guess I got lucky.

The knot problem is a pretty common thing for as much injections we do your bound to have some. If you always take care to be sterilized, not reuse pins, and quality gear you really shouldnít have to worry about an infection. However, we accept a certain risk thatís just the nature of the beast.
