I've often heard "lots of guys die WITH prostate cancer...very few actually die FROM prostate cancer". Good read.

My father passed away due to metastatic prostate cancer. His case was handled poorly, totally preventable but doctors were not up to speed on how to handle prostate cancer a couple decades ago.
I have a friend that had PSA level of 11.0, got a biopsy and doctor said we can remove it and guarantee it will not spread. My friend did not like what he heard so he went to a new urologist and based on that doctors opinion he decide to wait. A month or so goes by and his PSA is 5.0. Doctor said do not do anything now, let's wait as this may subside and be a more benign situation then originally thought.
Another guy I know decided to have his prostate removed and he only had a PSA level of 5.5. I could not believe his or the doctors reasoning for removal, it made no sense at all. One doctor said radiation was a good option, another said remove it, so he removed it.
I have another friend that has prostate cancer and it has been 15 years. They only monitor his prostate to ensure cancer has not progressed or worsened as it not a very aggressive for that period of time.
There is no such thing as a one size fits all solution for prostate cancer, my only recommendation is make sure you get a second and third opinion.
I would only consider removal if I had the consensus of three doctors...........minimum.
