x2 sorry Vis, I know this is not what you want to hear, but if I don't sleep well, I take a day off. My problem has been that I don't sleep well most nights due to severe sleep apnea, so I finally went and had a sleep study done, and next week I'm getting a CPAP machine. Perhaps none of that applies to you, but lack of sleep has hindered my workouts and my gains, so I can relate to you having a bad night of sleepTake a day off.
I agree with old school...it’s one thing to be dedicated, but some of you guys burn yourselves out. It’s not healthy mentally...I know I’ve felt guilty for missing sessions...call myself names in the mirror, but bro, take the day off, throw the ole lady around in the sack instead. Try not to even think about the gym for a day...you need a mental vacation every now and then. It’s a marathon, right? You got time to make up for a day off... peace brother!
Even if you just go through the motions, but I bet once you get in there youll get in your zone..

zing!take a day off.
Forced workouts lead to injuries in my experience. You got to keep your head just as strong as your body, son! Take a nap, and if you’re ready to rip-n-tear when you wake up....well then the gym will be there brother!
Missing a day sucks mentally, but your body doesn’t give a shit really. Every now and then I’ll take an odd day off just to keep my muscles guessing
THIS! Control your mind, don't let your mind control you and don't let your mind allow you to feel guilty for missing gym time. Lack of motivation to train is probably your body telling you that you need a break, both mentally and physically.
This break that I've been on has been the best thing for me. I feel better than I have in months, mentally and physically. I'm putting no pressure on myself to get back in the gym. I figure my mind and body will tell me when it's time. That may be another week, or another few months, I dunno.
You're absolutely right and the first thing I did after waking up from a nap I told myself not to hold myself to a better standard or accountable.. because when I woke up let me tell you for a brief moment I didn't even know what year I was in.. I just think it's damn near impossible to go guns a-blazing for several weeks on end. It catches up real quick especially considering what I've been through physically and mentally over the summer just to achieve my target goal.. I need to go back and read a lot of my personal notes where I give people suggestions to have down time, it's refreshing to hear it come back my way, put things back into check..
Give it 20+ years bro...Lol sometimes your body makes the decision for ya, I’m not there yet but I’m sure vision has already played the PR game. But I get it man, I’ve pushed myself when I wasn’t feeling it..When you don't feel like it is the most important day to go. If I took the day off when I didn't "feel" it, I would have missed out on many PR's when I thought I had nothing in the tank. Surprise yourself.

There's a huge difference between pushing yourself to go to the gym on a day that you don't really feel like it, compared to when you are just burned out and lacking motivation and desire, especially when you are older and have been grinding for awhile.
bro I was feeling the same way thats why I posted that thread about lethargy I thought I was going to die I was so tired, but I didnt want to leave my bro hanging so I drank a 5 hour energy drink and drug my ass into the gym and it was honestly the best workout I had all yearThis... I completely collapsed yesterday.. at first in the morning I thought it was just one of those days, but as the morning progressed it was quite clear I needed some fucking rest.. I feel great today but I'm even taking today off to.. and I'm considering the entire weekend as well..
More food and more rest. Its amazing what a cheeseburger and a nap will do for you.
Just an update.. started getting kidney pains yesterday.. No dark piss or anything but I can tell my body is taxed an possibly on the brake of Rhabdomyoltsis (spelling).. Im not taking any crazy sups or anything, I just been pushing it a bit hard for a bit to long.. This leads me to think of just breakdown..I been loading on some fine H2O around the clock.. pains subsided.. Just needed a brake.. Huge differ from needing motivation to just needing a complete unplug!
bro, I asked for MOTIVATION lolWay to listen to your body Brother, hope everything turns around for you and you get the much needed rest that your body needs...btw wasnt trying to be a dick in my previous posts. Was just trying to get you fired up...take the time and rest up to come back at 100%
