Get Shredded!
I'll be logging my workouts for this upcoming training cycle on my push to break a 1600 total. It will be a 12 week cycle that should take me to mid November. I may do a meet in December but certainly in March and June of next year.

Current Maxes

Squat: 595
Bench: 407
Deadlift: 575
TOTAL: 1577

Training will be at least 3 days a week. Main lifts on Sat/Sun and 1 or 2 fluff and buff workouts mid week plus a day or 2 of LISS cardio (if work schedule allows).

Nutrition wise I generally don't count macros/calories. I do however try to cycle my carb intake depending on the day. Heavy training days I tend to have more carbs and light or off days little to none. There will be some blow off meals thrown in just because there's a fat pig in me somewhere that needs some satisfaction.

Current stats:
age: 50+
height: 5'9"
weight: 250ish
bf%: no idea but I can see some abs and cutting isn't really a goal right now but my vanity wants to stay away from having a stereotypical powerlifter body

Current cycle is light:
Test E: 250 weekly
TBol: 25mg am, 25mg pw

Going to keep the cycle light for a bit. I took the last 8 weeks off of heavy lifting and blast dosing. This is my first time using TBol so I'd like to see how it works on a cruise level of test to better assess its effectiveness for me. Might need to up the dose but if I'm making gains with less I'll keep it there. Eventually I'll blast again, thinking a Test/Eq/Mast run or possible a DHB something something. I've had my fill of Tren so I'll be looking for other routes to take.

I do have a few recurring injuries that plague this old man occasionally but I work around them when I can.

Ok, preamble is over. I'll start with a squat workout later today.

Getting back into a heavy training cycle is a love hate thing. Sucks because I'm not peaked so any decent amount of weight feels heavy AF. However this will change over the upcoming weeks. Just have to do the work.

Speed day (dynamic effort)

Below parallel box squats wide stance - 1 minute between sets
135x10
225x10
315x5
405x2x4
375x2x8

Sumo deadlifts
315x5x5

Worked up to the 405 for my work sets, but my speed was going down so I dropped to 375. Resting about 1 minute or so between sets was tough but felt good. I was wider than my usual stance to work the hips more. Pulled 5 sets of 5 sumo in keeping with the wide stance day.

I was drenched in sweat from this, and with an amazing low back pump I did some abs (alleviates the low back pump) then hit the road. Quick and dirty

Triceps and back felt great today. long one today; about 2 hours but felt good all the way through.

Right on, cool to see this log. As I have aged I have changed a lot on which orals I prefer. When I was young I loved D-bol and Anadrol due to the shear mass and power both put on but now that I'm over 50 I very much prefer T-bol and Anavar. If I can give some advice I would try higher doses of the T-bol. It gets fun around the 75-100 mg daily mark.

Are you getting a decent amount of protein in your diet?

Thanks Heavy, yes I'm sure to eat a good amount of protein. A usual meal plan for each day is 6 eggs for breakfast. Lunch is some white rice and pile of shredded chicken or pork (I don't measure it.. i know I know...) that's been slow cooked over the weekend so I have lunch. If not my gf will put together stuff from dinner leftovers. If it weren't for her making interesting food I'd eat the same thing all the time. Dinner is whatever she makes... chicken, pork, fish, some days chili, or even burgers plus some kind of vegetable and some kind of starch (rice, potatoes, quinoa etc). I'll supplement extra protein on some lifting days with a Isolate/casein shake.

I agree, at my age some things have changed. Like my oral use and even the volume of my workouts. having said that I've actually cut out all AAS during this training cycle. See what base line numbers are and get blood work for my doc. Interested to see what kind of strength I keep throughout these few months. So far not bad. But I do like what I was feeling with TBol, even the low dose. I'm looking forward to restarting and upping the dose plus maybe adding some other basic oil (above test).

Last nights deadlift workout.

M.E. (heavy day)

Rack pulls from the knees
135x8
225x8
315x5

545x3
585x2

DB rows
135x15x5

Face Pulls
30x15x5

Cable crunches
95x15x5

All my dl's are singles meaning I do not do touch and go reps. I reset each time, even with he lighter weights so as to reinforce technique, bracing, getting tight and staying tight, and speed. Treat light weight like it's heavy weight so when you get to the heavy weight your technique is second nature. I do other types of warm up prior to lifting and it depends on what I'm training that day. But overall it's dynamic movement and mobility work.

Last nights Bench workout

M.E.

Close grip bench
95x15
135x15
185x15
225x10
275x3
315x2
335x2
355x1

Weighted Dips
90x3x10

Incl DB Curls
30x15x3

My last close grip bench was supposed to be a double but I struggled with the single so I racked it. Might have 'warmed up' too much, not enough sleep, food or whatever. Just didn't have it last night. Felt like I was dragging all day and made myself go to the gym. Felt good that I went and got what I got though. Always feel better after a good workout.

Tweaked my back a bit yesterday during my squat workout. So I took this weekend off. I'll get back to it Tuesday if it feels better.

Finally got back to it after giving my back a rest.

ME Squats - wide stance to above parallel box

135x10
225x10
315x5
405x1

495x1
545x1
585x1

Sumo Deadlifts (worked on speed here)
315 5x5

Body weight hyper-extensions
4x10

I haven't done box squats in forever so I'm looking forward to seeing what they can do for my squat and possibly deadlifts. I don't have a meet coming up this year so I can play with variations (box squats and sumo deads for example) a bit longer. This training cycle I'm going back to more of a Westside template than I've been doing. I tried it a long time ago but the sheer volume I did wasn't helping very much. I've found as I get older I don't do well with real high volume training. I'm changing a few little things to make a better fit.

Have had a busy week so I'm just getting to this

Last ME Bench day

Floor Press
135x10
185x10

Weighted Dips
90lb 4x8

Inc DB Curls
30x15,10,8,8

Floor presses can be humbling since you have zero leg drive and not having any momentum at the sticking point. This goes up my bench goes up. It translate very well to a bigger bench for me.
