It's not that I can't do phones. I use my phone but appropriately and respectfully. I physically can't be in a room with someone that is on their phone more engaged with their phone than they are with me. It's insane to me. And very disrespectful. I grew up in Silicon Valley I was always the kid that needed the newest phone. When colors and camera came out. Recently I was at a huge family reunion that might be the last for some people and I was watching all of these people even 50 60 year olds on their cell phones when all these family members were around and I wanted to say something. Like what the fuck the internet is not going anywhere but we wont be together tomorrow. I don't touch my phone when I'm with real people. That's my policy and I think a lot of other people should do that.

Aren’t you also with people on the phone ? Mode of socialising has changed. There are real people on the other end of the phones to which you are talking.
They not talking to you at a gathering shows they do not prioritise you or enjoy having conversation with you. That is why they chose their cell phones.

I agree. People and their damn phones are pretty ridiculous. I think its also rude when you are visiting family and everyone thinks is more important to be on their phne than it is talking to a relative that they haven't seen in a while. I don't understand it.

Something else I don't understand... I love going to baseball games. Its amazing to look arou d at the crowd and see, I would say, 50% of the people staring at their phone the whole game. Seriously? You paid $75 for a ticket to see a professional ball team play and you are going to sit on facebook the whole time? Wtf?!

50%? I’d be on mine the entire time if someone dragged me to a baseball game. Well that’s a lie, I’d have to divert my attention when I’m slamming back beer to help me forget I’m there.

I get that. But I also think some people are simply unaware because they are so out of touch at this point. I make an effort to separate myself from my phone out of respect. What bothers me the most is when I see other parents on their cell phone and their child is trying to get their attention. Thats a problem.

Yes thats a problem. If you are ignoring your child for a phone. Then you have mental health issue.

When I first started using mobile phones, whenever I would take a call, I would move to the pay phone area of the shop or restaurant (when payphones still existed). People would sometimes comment on my courtesy. I'm sure now people would think I'm off my rocker for stepping away from the table.
How about those people "talking to their toast" as I call it. Ever want to just walk up to them and say "You know that's a PHONE, right?" "Just put it to your ear to speak and listen normally."

You know what would probably do you a lot of good? Get away from this forum.....your negative attitude toward Americans, how we do things, doesn't measure up to your culture. You are always complaining about something. Your attitude is obviously geared toward trying to start a lot of crap. I'll do things the way I want to, and you the same. Don't force your holyier than thou attitude of on me.

Because it would look really silly that every time you need to be on your phone you had to excuse yourself. We would need to create another dimension.
