Get Shredded!
Hello all,
Im back from distal bicep rupture surgery. Its been a long painful 4 months but im ready to get back to the grind. I was looking for advice on getting started back. Im not sure how aggressively to be at this stage and to be honest i think I might be a little gun shy. My Dr. Said no pull ups for 3 months but thats about all the instructions he gave. Hoping someone might of had the same surgery and could give me some info. Thanks

Glad you are back with it man! Hope a speedy recovery comes for you and that you can get the best advice on how to train through this until then.

Bro..had it done 15 years ago..had the "L" cast, then that thing that lets you increase range of motion..DR. told
me go do what you want to do.. and he was a orthopedic for NFL team. IT actually should be and get stronger where it cannot happen again.
THe thing is the whole arm will never be the same unless you strengthen all muscles in that arm and keep the balance..I get cortisone shots in my inner elbow every now an then.
Still see same dr. MY tendon on surgery arm still has a little gap compared to good arm..So, the tendon will be fine, its just the other parts of the arm
must be well taken care of..due to the change in how it functions..I used t get paranoid about it, but nothing ever happened...I did keep any type of curls lighter,
but never had a problem with the tendon..and YES, mine was full rupture.. Best of luck. You are all good though!

AND I thought he would have me do therapy, but no. just all of a sudden said go do what you want. so the tendon is fine...but again, just have to take
better care of that arm...and you are fine!

welcome back man,,take it slow,,, you will be back in no time ,,, muscle memory aint no wives tail

IML Gear Cream!

I've torn both mine and rushed it back too soon both times. Now I don't do biceps at all. Just rely on back movements for bi's now. I get a tweaky feeling if I do biceps now. As you know it was the curling part that was hard it was the rotating left to right that hurt the most. My advise is take slow and don't be an impatient idiot like me. I have a post op pic if you want to see it

Wish you fast recover and good muscle connection, get well!

Can't help you with any advice, can only wish you fast recovery...If your Doc is so genius I'll better think about visiting another specialist

I did not go under the same surgery but i did get biceps tendinosis from doing pull ups every day and heavy ass hammers and curls. Coupled with one or two bad deadlift days.
Everytime i did pull ups or hammer curls it hurt like a bitch.
So i have quit doing pull ups. I started using those pink weights for curls. Started with 2kg each hand. Now im upto 10kg. I will keep it this way. High volume low weight.
Key is patience and not giving in to ego.
Gradually increase the weight.
Oh and hgh helped a little bit in the recovery. 4 iu a day, 5 days a week. for 4 months.
