Just curious bc years ago I read some heresay that taking liver supps such as tudca and NAC along with your selected oral product was counterproductive due to the oral steroids "absorption" rate being blunted by the liver preotectant supps.

bro science or fact?

All I ever heard about NAC being negative was that it could throw test scores off....Other than that idk

I havent heard of liver supps effecting efficacy of orals. But regardless i think NAC should be part of everyones daily supp use. It has a wide range of benefits and not limited to just a liver aid.

I don't know if this has any validaty to it but most supplements meant to support your liver on anabolics is a money making scam. (see N2Gaurd).

NAC is what they use in IV for Tylenol overdose in hospitals. So obviously it has some validity as a liver support supplement.

Liver protection supps DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT do a fucking thing ... I have spoke to liver specialists when I had a scare ... if Milk thistle , and all this other shit worked they would be given to chronic alcoholics and people with liver disease. Don't believe me ask your doctor .

I am sorry I just saw you where referring to those products being counter productive.... sorry , carry on ....

NAC definitely works for the liver as well as soooo many other good benefits... All it takes is a simple google search to see all the research and testimonials from people... It is one of the most researched supplements and has been proven.

And like dude above said..it is used is hospitals to keep people from going into complete liver failure..

I personally think anyone who doesn't use it is a fool... I would almost go as far as to call it a miracle supplement.

Choline and Inositol is another that is suppose to break down fatty liver deposits. Lots of articles on both. I take them daily. Doses are kind of all over the place on how much to use though.

You are very much correct about both statements you've made. From the last 5-6 years I've studied this subject amongst similar the only things I've ever seen actual proof to have been NAC due to links in the medical field, tudca from personal experiment with blood work, and choline and inositol was the one I've learned about more recently but I certainly trust the physician that spoke on the subject since it pertains to his particular profession.

Actually very few studies on nac show conclusive evidence for liver protection. The mechanism it works on for Tylenol is by binding to the medicine in the liver..... because the liver has trapped it there. It will do the same thing in the bloodstream to Tylenol. By inferring it has liver benifits based on that is pure conjecture and the studies don't support it. Does it have uses? Yes it does. Does it protect against liver damage? So far the studies and research say not really and inconclusive.

All I know is I've taken both for years and have always had good liver values at check up time. Wether it's on or off cycle. So obviously experience trumps science. Why would they even look at these two compounds if they were not beneficial??

Who the fuck needs a liver anyways

but in all reality this is an interesting topic. I take 1000mg NAC on orals just because it's been widely said to help. No evidence or personal experience to compare here tho

UDCA and NAC is all you need.
Yeah I'm surprised people aren't mentioning TUDCA and UDCA. I've seen a lot of evidence of hospitals using it for liver problems. I use TUDCA, NAC (in cycle assist) and Liv52. I know liv52 is herbal but there's too much positive about it, plus it's dirt cheap, to not include it IMO. plus over 1 gallon water I shoot for 1.5. Finish a gallon by early afternoon when on orals and keep drinking till 9. Something is working.

Another one I don't here about a lot, but use on a regular basis. MSM methyl-sulfonyl-methane. It's a great anti inflammatory and antioxidant. It is the gold standard of supps in horse racing. It covers all the major organs. I take a teaspoon daily and truly notice a difference in the way I feel. Again a lot of studies and this and that, but again nothing Trumps personal experience. So I will keep taking it.

I disagree sorry bro...there is plenty of information out there showing that it truly does help protect the liver..not just based off the Tylenol issue. I know guys personally who had crazy high enzymes from drinking, like in the edge of being done for.

Starting take NAC and nothing else and it had brought them back to normal with a healthy liver ..but to each it own my man .

I've seen enough evidence for me to fully believe the stuff works and will most definitely protect the liver. But I respect your input man.

Absolutely. It's my understanding that when people go to the ER due to symptoms of jaundice and liver failure from overdosing on Acetemitaphen (sp?) in cold medicine, they're immediately given NAC to bring their liver functions back to normal. So there must be something to it if the doc's in the ER use it on their patients

As far as I know, NAC IS given to some of those patients. But I believe that it depends on how far gone the liver in question really is. Perhaps it can be determined by GGT blood levels.

Your specialist are full of shit.

1600mg of NAC increases glutathione levels by up to 96%. Glutathione plays the biggest role in free radical elimination primarily in the liver but can be used by every cell in our bodies.

^this! Nac is well documented... its a glutathione precurser and its actually given to ER patients in cases of OTC pain relievers.

Quoting this for the importance of the compound and its effect on glutathione. He knows his stuff

Good thread, glad it's gotten some attention. NAC is cheap and useful and tudca is easily affordable. Both are worth the extra protection in my book any day. Making point to this topic was really "can I take all my pills together. As in orals and liver aid along with whatever else.

But obviously I and other believe there would be no problem with that.

TUDCA is also amazing.

Besides competing with bile salts that can back up in the liver and become damaging, it's been shown to improve insulin resistance.
