A Pharmaceutical Enterprise Jelfa SA in Jelenia Góra is the biggest industrial factory of the city and one of the biggest Polish pharmaceutical companies.

Its history dates back to 1945, when shortly after the Second World War end, a group of Polish pioneers that arrived at the western territory began to organize their economic activities in Piechowice close to Jelenia Góra. Two years later, a small drug production was transferred to buildings at Wincentego Pola St. in Jelenia Góra where the company registered office is situated until this day.

For the whole period of its activity, the enterprise has been developing dynamically and already in the sixties became one of major factories in its branch. Portfolio and production volume were growing simultaneously and export began to play an increasingly significant role. Subsequent years brought new production-and-technological achievements such as extension and modernization of the enterprise.
After privatization the Company accepted its present name: Przedsiębiorstwo Farmaceutyczne Jelfa Spółka Akcyjna (Jelfa SA)/ Pharmaceutical Enterprise Jelfa Joint Stock Company. It was noted on the Warsaw Stock Exchange from July 1994 till November 2006.
In 2006 Jelfa SA was overtaken by Sanitas Group and as of 19th August 2011, the Company owner has been an international corporation Valeant Pharmaceuticals International.
Jelfa is the biggest Polish producer of ointments and a leading manufacturer of hormonal, cardiologic and vitamin preparations. The Company is one of the biggest Polish exporters of pharmaceuticals. We have our own research laboratory and maintain contact with scientific research centers and clinics both at home and abroad.
An implemented Quality Management System basing on international manufacturing standards, Quality Policy and Quality Manual guarantees production of effective and safe pharmaceuticals of the highest quality in the world.
All stages of the production process are strictly monitored. Modern technological solutions enable to increase the production level and at the same time are ecologically friendly. The company can boast about one of several in the world ecological packaging lines, which permits to pack drugs into biodegradable packs.
