My wife's orthopedist and physiatrist have both recommended this therapy for her low back pain and lumbar sprain.
It is a bit time consuming, but I diligently make myself available for her sessions, each of which are a bit lengthy, but highly effective.
After a variable period of time, she appears to reach a mildly invigorative state, followed by a wonderful relaxation of her skeletal muscles. This, in turn is followed by a renewal of both vigor and determination, and subsequent sessions are every bit as intense, but somewhat shorter in length, and the relaxation appears very restorative.
She generally does from five to fifteen sets of initially up to a thousand reps. As the number of sets increases, the number of reps required to obtain the muscle relaxation decreases almost exponentially.
The therapy is extremely beneficial to her wellbeing, and I must say, I never mind helping her out, as intrusive as it may be to my busy schedule.
