Being three times as anabolic as testosterone, having the ability to rapidly accelerate strength and users packing on up to two stone in weight gain during a cycle - Anadrol is no doubt one of the most powerful steroids available.
Anadrol is the name nearly everyone in the bodybuilding community knows this potent steroid as, with it being the brand name of the steroid produced by Syntex during the 1960s to treat a variety of illnesses. The chemical name of the steroid is Oxymetholone, hence you may also hear Anadrol referred to as ‘oxy’ too.
Dosages and gains from an Anadrol cycle
Anadrol is a very potent steroid and will yield dramatic results.
For most, 50mg per day will be more than ample to see big strength and mass gains during a typical 6 week cycle. One to two stone of weight gain is common from an Anadrol cycle. Some of the weight gained will be water due to Anadrol’s tenancy to cause a fair bit of water retention (see side effects section below) but make no mistake, a lot of muscle mass will be laid down and retained post cycle thanks to the hormone’s highly anabolic nature.
More advanced users may opt to increase the dosage, say to 100mg per day. However, this would be more typical of an advanced bodybuilder with plenty of previous Anadrol cycles under their belt and who has a high tolerance to both the hormone and the associated side effects. For the majority, 50mg would be the chosen dosage.
Anadrol cycles are typically 4-6 weeks in duration. Due to Anadrol’s fairly high hepatotoxicity (stress to the liver) it would be unwise to extend Anadrol use past the six week mark.
Stacking Anadrol
Anadrol only cycles are common and will yield big gains in strength and muscle size.
The hormone is also a great option within a stack, usually acting as a front loader for the first 4-6 weeks of a longer 12-15 week cycle incorporating the likes of testosterone and Deca Durabolin or Trenbolone. Such a stack will allow the user to experience the rapid results of the Anadrol while the slower acting injectables are taking a few weeks to elevate in the system.

Anadrol side effects
Given the potency of the steroid, the tendency for Anadrol to cause notable side effects should be expected. Thankfully, a number of the side effects can be controlled.
Anadrol is somewhat strange in its oestrogenic effects. The steroid itself doesn’t aromatize yet it is very oestrogenic in nature. As such, the related side effects of heightened oestrogen can be expected such as increased water retention, which is very typical of Anadrol usage, as well as Gynecomastia. Gynecomastia is the formation of breast tissue and may be experienced in its early stages as sore, itchy or puffy nipples. For this reason, it is necessary to have an appropriate anti-oestrogen to hand (either SERMs such as Nolvadex or AIs such as Arimidex should prove effective).
Users of Anadrol can expect androgenic side effects from its use including oily skin, acne, increased aggressiveness and accelerated hair loss for those that are prone. Like all hormones, Anadrol will affect people differently but if you’re particularly prone to the likes of acne it would wise to expect Anadrol use to cause it to flare up.
Liv-52 liver protectionBeing a C17-aa steroid (chemically structured so that it can be taken orally), Anadrol can cause damage to the liver (hepatotoxicity) so its dosage and duration of use must be kept limited. Users will be wise to not drink any alcohol and ensure they’re not taking any medications that are also hepatotoxic during the Anadrol cycle. Additionally, supplementing with Liv-52, Milk Thistle and ALA can help protect the liver and would be a wise purchase.
