Ive been a long time proponent of large doses of vitamin C. Its done wonders for my own health and for others I have guided. Most of the medical establishment calls it hogwash and ignores the studies that have been done, which admittedly arent many. After all, who is going to fund it? Its a cheap supplement you cant patent so where is the incentive? There is no money in a healthy population.

Im currently taking 3000mg daily

If people can handle it without GI distress, I recommend trying to get 6g a day or even a little more if they can handle it.

Athletes cause a lot of stress and damage on connective tissue etc so need even more than the average joe since Vit C is an often overlooked key to collagen synthesis.

Agree Vit C is usually underrated...
6g a day is quite a bit
What type are you taking?

I know folks who take 20g a day and have for years with no harmful effects. Everytime I slack off on the VC my joints start to hurt from lifting, Im a low rep lifter personally.

Some peoples cant tolerate even a gram a day, they get GI distress but aside from that there are very few issues to worry about.

I use ascorbic acid for ease/cost, used a few brands but have settled on bulk supplements off amazon. There are actually only a couple large ascorbic acid manufactureres that supplly everyone else so quality is decent.

It's not too bad if you space it out. Plus it helps with absorbing more of it I believe rather than 1 massive dose and shitting yourself.

Absolutely, split into 3 or more daily doses!

I do (2) 500mg tabs in the morning then (2) 500mg tabs 30 minutes before working out.

And a massive b-12 dose shot E3D using a slin pin.

Question for ya Zyg.....Since you have started mega-dosing Vit C, have you been able to avoid getting sick?

I always take 2mg a day. If I start to feel like I'm getting sick, bump it up to 6mg a day.

IML Gear Cream!
Zygla... this might be off topic but bare with me. You have helped me a metric fuck ton with dialing in my supp use. We discussed at on point that i had hemocromtoisis(to much iron). I saw this post and after our talk i found something interesting. Apparently with Hemocromitosis its suggested that Vit C intake should be limited... i will try to link the research.

sorry for hijacking your thread but im always glued to your posts man and you have been a ton of help with diet/supp related issues and questions. thanks again man

Look up Liposomal Vitamin c. I think absorption is something like 98%, which allows you to get all the benefits of Vit C without the side effects.
As opposed to Ascorbic Acid, regular intake the absorption rate varies between 70 and 95%. However, the degree of absorption decreases as intake increases. At high intake (1.25 g), fractional human absorption of ascorbic acid may be as low as 33%; at low intake (<200 mg) the absorption rate can reach up to 98%

Love this post... big believer in Vit. C. Not taking nearly as much as you guys but will think on increasing the dose.

Funny thing is I never used to like oranges or citrus fruit as a kid. And didn't supplement either.

Now as an adult, I am using VC much more and feel it has made a difference in my skin.

Thanks for the links.

BTW I do have injectable glutathione with VC. Might be a nice way to get more available in your system?
