Something has been troubling me for sometime and I need to come clean..

I'll just come out and say it.. "I'm not magic, like at all"...

For sometime now my little bucka'roo always thinks I'm magical, like REAL MAGIC, LIKE THE STUFF IN DREAM!

He's had some underlining health issues along with his autism, lil champ, but this time last year he was very ill...I knew in advance a certain game that he wanted for his game unit...Daddy went and called around and jackpot, found it... I went and picked it up, but never told him..I carried this thing on me all damn day, riding on my waistline, knowing he will ask me for a magic trick..Then the moment comes, he says "daddy, can you use your magic?" (I had a smile from ear to ear)..

I raised my hands and made these chants and calls to the ever so powerful wizard to grant me the power.. Blamo, I made his game that he wished for appear!

I never seen his eyes EVER light up like that, it took me all that I had not to tear up, literally..He looked at mommy and said "My daddy really is magic"... I'll never forget it, his face and the joy till the day I die..

However, it came at a price...

Now he always asks me to use my magic, and makes some random ass request for something I have no clue on what it is..I end up running around like a raped up, calling around looking for this item and waiting for the right moment..Recently it's gone above and beyond.. I just cant do it like this, its killing me...So I found a app where you change your voice and play it at random times..I made a wizard say in the most creepiest and deepest voice with a echo that lingers for what seems like a lifetime "This is the wizard, your Daddy is out of powers till this weekend"..My little man ran and hid and said he hates the wizard...:(

Mind you he's only 9, he's autistic, and is mentally not at his age level for reasons..

How do I tell him that Daddy is NOT TRULY MAGIC? Or, do I just suck this up and do as little man wants and use magic, even when its at the most difficult times, like RAIN, SNOW, NO MONEY etc etc etc..??

What have I done??????????

BUT I'M NOT MAGIC!!!!!!

You in a rough spot and its even rougher because of the autism. Suck it up and do as much as you can for as long as you can and when you can't come up with the "magic" you tell him that you used all of your powers for the day already.

Been there before. The only difference is the other week when I came home she said daddy you've been joking me all along you don't know magic, until I pulled the quarter outta her nose then she laughed and appeased me by believing it. Only to tell me right before I tucked her into bed, daddy I know the quarter was in your hand but your still the best daddy ever. I love you. Then rolled over and out like a light!

Your son might already know but enjoys watching you run around or make things appear. They all do. But if needed you just explain that the magic has been passed off to another daddy for awhile so he could borrow it.

Kinda like the santa thing. Abby thinks I have a direct number to santa and if she's naughty I will call him and that only daddy's get the number and its secret so you can't share with anyone. lol

tell him you had to lone your magic powers to santa so he could bring gifts to all the children in the world

And here I thought Vision was going to make a coming out of the closet post..

Leaving disappointed.

loz, I almost didnt click this thread cause I thought " we already know your gay what is there to confess"

well that's a cool story Vision. Depending on how old he is, you might need to come clean in another year or two, and tell him what you did for that "magic" surprise you laid on him, and explain that you wanted so much to surprise him and make his day a great one. You can explain that your motive, (your heart) was in the right place and you didn't intend to trick him or deceive him in any way.

You're missing point cook.... these requests are at random... I cant do it man, I just can't!!!:wits:

..

you need magic spray for these moment- febreeze re-branded works nicely

There are stores that sell magic tricks. I used to buy them and practice with my nephew. Through buying these tricks I started to pick up some slight of hand stuff. Then my tattoo guy is like a legit magician and he thought me some stuff.
Not that I'm skilled but I have 3 or 4 bar tricks that impress everyone. And I see kinda how things actually happen

I don't know why I didn't think of this they have a professional magic place in the city I could take a ride to.... I heard they have those coins that you can take a bite out of...Lil man would LOVES these before bed.. (he still sleeps in daddy's bed Grrrrr)

I will save my penis excursions for a different tread...

Maybe just put everything in the world in your pants. LoL. No man, that's tough. You're a great dad and having a child with autism has to be extremely challenging and you're very strong more than just physically. Keep your head up vision!!

Tough question., harder answer., never been in the situation so it would be easy for me to say keep doing the same thing your doing cuz your lil man sounds absolutely thrilled!!! but I also understand that your burning the candle at both ends to make it happen and probably has to be pretty tough at times however what you described has to feel very rewarding for you to see ur lil man be totally excited like u mentioned and it sounds like your doing a fantastic job at that!! Maybe try to find one of those "Magician Starter Kits"...they used to come with an array of products that had the capabilites of producing quite a few different tricks (used to be fairly inexpensive).. also a deck of cards is capable of producing many different tricks with just one deck and maybe customize those card tricks to things he really likes and enjoys. So my answer would be to keep it up as long as u can and possibly tell him that your only magical at certain times.Just tossin out some ideas. Some great ideas in this thread already.!!!

I wouldn’t tell him just yet man until he’s older and old enough to not take it so hard that daddy actually isn’t magical in that way. What I would do is use that wizard app and have it say something like daddies powers can only be used maybe something like 1 time every Saturday and that he has to request in advanced to the wizard what he wants to get it approved 😉

Well I didn’t realize this was 2 years old lol but I think that was some decent advice anyway lol

Bro you’re a motivation to all fathers to be a better father ...
Speaking from experience.... Stay the super magic daddy as long as he’ll buy it ... once it’s over, it’s over for good so enjoy it as long as you both can. Let him know “magic” is for super special times only! Lol

like when you can pull it offf hahhaa

First off your'e a great father seem like you go above and beyond like a good father would.
Autism does have an obsessive component to it as one of the characteristics. Now that he was stimulated by your magic trick he has found something to grab on to. My nephew is autistic.. What we do is redirect him with saying something like.. Oh no magic power is low right now but how about this... and redirect it to something else or redirect to something else he likes to do. I may take a while for him to not bring up the magic requests but it will fade..
Blessings to you and your family bro... Lil man sounds awesome.. keep up the good work

This thread brings back a lot of memories considering how old it is lol..

A lot has happened since this time and we have brought my little man to children's hospital to see specialists quite a few times the past several weeks.
He's doing absolutely amazing, but there's still a lot of stuff we're tapping into along with his diagnosis in the spectrum, as well as his nervous tics, vocal tics, his tourette's and his stuttering.. they all fall under the same classification within the spectrum but he has a pretty severe case of all of them..
He's going through a rough spot especially with hormones priming out his CNS, the kid is in complete full torqued mode lolol.. I love them for everything he is, and everything that he has brought to my life. Who would have ever thought that my own child is actually my very own teacher!!!

Just ran across this..........Damn Vis...Well God challenges the ones that believe...............Often wonder why ,,,but He is your Blessing not anything less...........I'll bet..you haven't impacted his life nearly as much as he has yours!!!.............You are the lucky One..!!
