View Full Version : Anybody use a bicycle for cardio?

A real one, I mean. How do you go about using it? Distance, heart rate?

I use a Kurt Kinetic trainer so I don't actually "go" anywhere.

For real world bike riding, you can find phone apps that will guesstimate how many cals, distance, HR, etc...but like the machines at the gym, it's only a guess.
I know I'm not actually burning 360 cals in 20 min on the elliptical at the gym but it's nice when the machine tries to tell me I did.

I mt bike.. But that's cause I like it. I do cardio to get ready for mt biking. The kind of riding I do though is a little to much and is not seen as healthy cardio any more.

What does that mean, too much and not seen as healthy cardio?
