Get Shredded!
Been away awhile had a bunch of medical issues. Whooping cough put me in hospital and I broke a rib and fractured a rib coughing. Had blood work done and EKG. Both came back off. The dr. Said since u never smoked and never drank alcohol I have to ask u this. U do steroids? I said yes. He said normal heart function is 60 percent and I'm at 45. The heart ultrasound came back that the walls of my heart are thickened. Since I do nothing else and no high blood pressure it has to be the roids. Heart muscles are basically growing and restricting blood flow. He said at 30 percent I'd have trouble walking to the mailbox without stopping to breath and I'm half way there. I stopped pinning 2months ago, he said its reversible just like any other muscle it will shrink. Keep track of your heart and liver while cycling. Having whooping cough helped me find this or eventually I would have had a heart attack. Just be careful.

Thanks for the post bro...

What are yr stats? How long using aas ? Race?.. And doses?...etc etc.. if u dont mind

Glad you're doing better brother and it's true, everyone needs to be aware of the unseen risks associated with AAS usage.

Fair enough, I'd like to ask though on what premise was heart function determined to be 60%? I've had the "talk" with a doctor before who said I had an abnormally large heart and thickened vascular walls. This is what happens to a heart when one engages in heavy weightlifting and periodization. What is almost always ignored is cardiac output. Meaning the thickening is quite normal and an adaption to increased blood pressure during weight training. Also, concerning aas, this is speculation on my part but it's medically sound reasoning. It may be that the internal ventrical diameter is increased due to aas increasing blood volume hence a resulting increase in thickness of the left ventricular wall is not only normal but neccesary to balance internal stresses of the heart from increased blood volume.

I say this not to refute your doctor but weightlifters in general have always had that argument thrown at them "you have thickened ventricular walls". Of course we do it's a training effect.

Anyway, get better, don't cycle for a while, if ever, your call not mine, but maybe you could see a doctor who specializes in dealing with athletes before you get to upset about cardiac issues that may not even be issues.

Finaly, it took a minute but I'd read this series of studies a few years ago (ok like 8 years ago) and damned if I didn't find em on the net; I love the internet ;)

The first third of the article(s) deal with heart enlargement in athletes:
"
Cardiac structure: key points

  • There is overwhelming evidence that the heart of athletes may differ from that of non-athletes, provided that the training is of sufficient intensity and duration
  • Predominantly eccentric left ventricular hypertrophy is observed in sports with high dynamic and low static demands (for example, running)
  • Sports with high static demands (for example, weight lifting) lead to predominantly concentric hypertrophy
  • In sports with high dynamic and high static demands (for example, cycling) the hypertrophy is mixed and balanced
  • The influence of exercise is shown by the study of athletes in different training states

"

It is well worth the read and it's not very technical at all.
Again, GET WELL, drop aas but get that second opinion as to what is causing increase in ventricular wall, especially since there are no concurrent blood pressure issues.

scary stuff. considering how aas can make us feel invincible at times. hope you get well man. keep us posted on how things go in the future.

btw. what kind of cycles did you run? were you a heavy user?

Like everyone else, curious to know what kind of user you are. Blast and cruise guy, long heavy cycles, what kind of stuff do you run?

Glad to hear you caught that before anything serious happened.

Ok I used steriods in my late 20's mainly test and some deca. Stopped for a long time started back when I was 37. Got to 300 lbs of fat lost 70lbs got into the gym and started using. I'm 43 now, test and tren is what I mostly used over the last 5 years. I've gone as high as a gram of test and 600 trenE a week. Switched to trenA cause the mental sides was bad for me and the trenE I handeled better. Over the last year I used testE 500 e5d trenA 200 eod and mastA 200 eod. Never really got off of that cycle for the last 6 months. Before that I'd cycle 12-14 weeks then off 12-14 weeks.

The ER dr told me my problem. I went a week later to my dr who knew I used steriods. He told me usually high BP patients had what I had because the heart works so hard to pump the blood that the walls thickened. He said the hearts a muscle steriods will grow the heart. Now no one said anything about my heart being larger just that the walls are really thick and it's limiting my blood flow. Look I love running roids I don't believe the Lyle A. Brain cancer thing or most of the other things they say about roids. So I'm not that guy. Hopefully if my heart shrinks I got some test and Winstrol in my room waiting to be used. But I do believe your heart is a risk. Just looking out for my bros is all.

IML Gear Cream!
a friend went through something similar but actually almost died from a heart infection..

ER doc went nuts thinking he had a congenital heart condition as well...

hes had MILD steroid use..most notably EQ and low dose test ..I dont consider multiple tren cycles mild here..
anyway, his weight is too high..both muscle and fat at this point..mainly muscle honestly...

he saw a cardiologist about the whole thing..looked it all over and said..lose some weight, this is pretty mild and reversible

turned out to really not be the steroids per se' but rather his size and not a congenital defect

NOW that said...everyone needs to understand when you're pushing your body past its limits you will likely have some repercussions LIKE organ damage if you aren't careful and cognizant of the risks

My advice quit while you are ahead get better tommorow is another day.........

And we thank you. But do go off aas but you can always alter to workouts that increase the inner volume of the left ventricle too. Helps you, helps your heart, keeps your muscle, I think it will really help your mind. I'd presume that that first visit to the doc, the one you took by being hospitalized :roflmao:, probably gave you a look at errr, uh, limitations?? :wits:
Oh, and you know you don't wanna sit on the couch and "heal", when you know you can heal faster with some stress relieving workouts designed for heart health.

I started working out 2 weeks ago real lite. Still haven't done back or legs cause it works your core too hard and I got two weeks till the rib is fully healed. But it tells u where my head is. Even off roids 2 weeks after breaking a rib I was back in the gym. What workouts are heart healthy? I'm all ears and will def try.

:winkfinger::winkfinger::winkfinger:And I'll be off the roids for a long time and have my heart checked regularly till I'm clear. All bets are off after that:winkfinger:

Man this worries me. Mainly cause ive been athletic my entire life and was 240 lbs all natural before I ever even touched aas. And im only 5 11

Being very health oriented and conscious, these threads scare me to death. Sometimes im like "why do I even do this shit. why cant I just be happy and normal. I got a wife and a good career". Well thats for a shink to answer I guess.

That being said, I think its the tren that will start to come out as the main culprit in a lot of heart issues down the road for people, along with the high calorie eating. Just some food for thought, but the perma-bulker mentality with AAS is a big problem health wise. I slimmed down to a 200 lb, 6ft, eating 1700-2500 cals a day. I feel clean and mean. Even 190-195 lb is now fine with me. I feel better, look SO MUCH better, and BP issues are almost all gone, even when I cycle. I am on TRT and have been since 26-27. Im not all that comfortable with that either, but hey I made that choice so I gotta be as healthy as possible. I eat pizza maybe once a week now, and no more coffee. paleo style diet for the most part. Now im just rambling, but I feel its tren, high weight, and heavy lifting with high calories that are hurting folks.

Hope you get better man, lose some weight in this time off and come back nice and lean and shredded. You will feel and look better all around

its to each their own tong po

the jack sits at 210-220 at 6' 1" and hes happy there... Ive got a buddy thats 5' 10" and around 240 lbs...
nother ten lbs and I think the jack would be totally satisfied...hes actually pretty slender boned..hit the ceiling at 185 no matter what he did

Best of luck on your health. Not much is worth death especially some muscles.

just reading this made me think of a close friend of mine who passed away a couple years, he was a competitor at a high level and he had a heart attack, yes he abused gear bad but that was his life. first thing that people that didnt know him well said its because of the gear, what they didnt know is he had under lying issues with his heart, he knew it, he choose to ignore that and persue what he loved. my point is yes the gear could have played a part in your situation, most of us just get a regular physical and blood work done but who really goes and gets the really in depth tests done until there is a problem? i know i didnt until i was in a serious car accident and had every heart, stress, and brain test imagineable done. could it been when you were over weight, your organs are stressed, how was your life style before getting into BB? could you have a heart issue all along but it went undetected? its all hypothetical but for the dr to jump the gun and say oh you said you take roids so thats what its from, i just dont 100% agree with that, its possible but there are other possibilities too.

Get Shredded!
Not really sure test1. A year and a half ago I had my c7 removed. It was bulging on my nerve. I had an EKG then and they told me they couldn't have drawn it better. So this all happened a year and a half ago. I will be trying to lose weight for sure with out running AAS. It's just really hard at 43 and a wife who eats everything in front of her and walks around at 130 no matter how many cal she shoves in her face. Sucks!!!

I wonder how many of these heart issues have to do with steroid abuse compared to lower doses and proper amount of time off?

I see guys run such massive doses for such long periods of time I wonder what it does to all of their organs compared to moderate doses for shorter periods of time.

Is there any study out there that says where the line is drawn for too much and just enough?

Probably not.

600 Tren E and 1000 of Test E.....yeah that is a bit psychotic if you ask me!

There is a reason Doctors prescribe Cialis while on cycle. For blood flow in the heart and to keep BP in check. Has nothing to do with the penis, but that is a benefit I guess for you old spunkers :roflmao:

If you're going to continue running these types of cycles I HIGHLY recommend looking into Cialis with your Doctor.
