Hey everyone, theoretically, for entertainment purposes, this is a list if you are buying some things for a homebrew setup!

Will link to where I will purchase from, I need for you guys to tell me if I should replace any of my options with something better or if I am missing anything! Thank you.

Need help on scale, as well as which syringes(need to be able to attach needle) to use to be able to filter properly as well as help choosing a syringe filter

* indicates an item that will be diminished each time you homebrew.

Glass Stir Rod 12" ~ $1.50
http://www.amazon.com/Glass-Stir-Ro...qid=1352357142&sr=8-7&keywords=glass+stir+rod
Pyrex 400 ml Beaker ~ $5.80
http://www.amazon.com/PYREX-Griffin...F8&qid=1352357215&sr=1-1&keywords=pyrex+400ml
Scale~$23 (isn't super important depending on source for raws) ~Rain vouched for this one!
(haven't decided on one specifically, ) If I can get one even more accurate than these, it'd be awesome. planning on measuring mgs, I think this one is sufficient

*Mantova GSO ~ about $9* (34oz)
http://www.amazon.com/Mantova-Grape...qid=1352357433&sr=8-13&keywords=grapeseed+oil
*Kendall Alcohol Prep pads 200ct ~ $4.12*
http://www.amazon.com/Kendall-Alcohol-Prep-Pads-count/dp/B002CYNP86/ref=pd_sbs_indust_3
10cc/ml syringe~ $8
http://www.amazon.com/Syringe-Needl...&qid=1352357682&sr=1-4&keywords=10+ml+syringe
Syringe Filter PTFE .45 um 10pk ~ $14.66
http://www.amazon.com/Syringe-Filte...qid=1352356547&sr=8-2&keywords=whatman+filter
Syringe Filter PVDF .2 um 10pk ~ $14.66
http://www.amazon.com/Syringe-Filte...qid=1352356547&sr=8-3&keywords=whatman+filter

Reason for two sizes is to double filter, as I have read it can speed the 2nd filter up and make it cleaner.

10ml vial ~ $13.79 5pk / 30ml vial 1pk ~ $7.72
http://www.amazon.com/Empty-Borosil...8&qid=1352357949&sr=1-1&keywords=sterile+vial
http://www.amazon.com/Hospira-Steri...1352358085&sr=1-1&keywords=30+ml+sterile+vial
*BB ~ $8.46 / 100 ml* OR $19.65 for 16 oz
http://www.medical-and-lab-supplies...oate-usp/benzyl-benzoate-usp-100ml-3-4oz.html
http://lemelange.com/benzyl-benzoate.aspx
*BA ~$17.65 for 16 oz*
http://lemelange.com/benzyl-alcohol.aspx

What I still need; Correct syringes + needles for filtering
was thinking 10/20cc syringes and a 18gauge for filtering and a single 25g for venting. Honestly do not want to buy bulk on the syringes and needles. Any advice? Thanks guys! And also advice on the syringe filter!
~$15 probably

Total; roughly $140

This is before adding the price of raws.

^ If you feel as if this is too much, please write ITT, the goal is to be cost efficient! ~ Note the amt of everything bought as well!

thanks!

Those syringe filters aren't sterile that I can see. If you're going to order anything from med lab supply you might as well order as much as you can at once from there as it is $10 shipping. I think I bought most of my stuff there except stir rods and the scale which I got on Amazon. I would use 18g to filter and no bigger than a 10ml syringe. You go much bigger and you're pressing too hard and you crack the neck of the filter. Ask me how I know. 25g vent is fine. I use 10ml and 3ml syringes to measure out solvents and stuff like that. Just watch those syringe filters they have to be sterile. Just buy them at med lab with everything else and I wouldn't bother double filtering. Buy extra syringe filters too cuz ya never know. I went with what man. Millipore broke easy. And be patient the first time something always goes wrong lol you'll be lucky if it doesn't. Just takes your time.

Give a little more information
of what you brewing and how much you brewing
And like Deuce said buy everything from one place.
why you want so much paper trail?

to save a few bucks it's not worth it.

Thanks for the responses. Can I get the single syringes and needles off of med supply? What size filter is correct? The .20 or the .45? I'll have to look further ! I loved your thread deuce, I just wasn't sure where to go for most of it haha.

And crazerico what do you mean? This entire list is almost all from amazon. I'll be brewing test ^^. Primarily that is. Will be making some orals too but this thread isn't directed toward that.

Edit-
I'll probably order a capping machine and blanks for capping larger dosed orals.

It isn't necessary to filter through both a .45 and a .2. The .2 sterile filters " they must be sterile filters" is all that's necessary.

By the way just because your ordering from amazon doesn't mean your getting everything from the same vendor.

Very True. But, depending on the size and saturation of any particles you might have in your oil an initial filtration at .45 followed by a .2 sterile filtration very well might be best practices. It all comes down to the quality of your raw materials and your preparation process. As with all things "Your Mileage May Very."

Solid thanks guys. This price range look pretty decent ?

Get the 20ml syringes and a caulking gun to make life easier when filtering

IML Gear Cream!
I'll count on atleast 1 25g and 1 18g being used every conversion correct?

thanks for the help guys!

WOW!

new total off medlabsupplies =
$101.34 before shipping

(this does not count powder, grapeseed oil, stirring rod, or scale~~)

and that is with 5 syringe filters, 300ml BB 50ml BA, sharps container, 200 alcohol prep pads, 20 10cc syringes(these are sterile correct? http://www.medical-and-lab-supplies...l-luer-lock-syringe-w-o-needle-exel-10ct.html), 25 3ml, 30 18g needles, 30 25g needles, 400ml beaker, 25 10ml sterile glass vials!

Yea, I don't know why they would sell syringes that aren't sterile. I've been treating them that way with no problem :winkfinger:
