Long story short- Im 31 just found out my T is low (232)- Dr specializes in low T-Said I need to start the T injection. I went home did research and came up with HCG and Clomid as medicines to also be on in conjunction with HRT- I told him about this and he said he has no experience with these medications. I should say though-he was very upfront about HRT. Told me that I will not be having kids if I go on HRT. Tough news to hear for the wife and I for sure.

What do you guys think? I was thinking about going on the HRT with this Doc then just getting my own HCG and doing my own thing with that. Good idea? Have heard the clomid and HCG could possibly help with later having kids?? Any help would be appreciated- thanks

I'm on HRT and my wife is pregnant. That doc is... Uninformed.... Might want to find a better doc.

Thanks for the response. This dr is at a place that specializes in low T that's why I thought he might know what he's doing. Based on conversations with him he always says things like he's covering his a**. I don't know. Did you also get on HCG or clomid?

My doc has me on low dose of HCG, but other docs don't use it. There have been a couple threads on it here... As for kids, even if on hrt for a while, you can 'cycle off', use clomid/etc to wake 'the boys' up, knock the wife up, and then get back on HRT.

Most docs even if they are supposed be experts are clueless.
I don't think you need clomid.
First. What dose of T is he recommending and how often?

Some docs will think one shot ever three weeks at 200mg
is enough. it's as bad as the low T. I called it an emotional roller coaster ad yoyoing.

To make a long story short if he isn't advocating a proper protocol and dosing there are other options. it's just in your hands how you go. I finally broke down and went to a clinic to get my T straightened out. Most if these clinics are greedy bastards. Id have a few years of test and extra at what the one place I went to cost me for ten weeks and that was cheapest reset I found. But it served a purpose. My primary jumped on board when he saw how great I was doing but then I hit a sanfu after a few months that screwed up things. I still get the hcg covered and part of my T. So it isn't that expensive non specialist. I schedule my own labs. I had to learn on my own, that I needed to donate blood to get my Hemocrit down. Even trt doses jack mine up.

I take 200mg of test split into two doses each week. 250iu hcg twice a week and 12mg of stane e3 days does the trick for my E levels. I was taking .5 mg of adex twice a week but it played hell with a few of my values on blood work. My understanding is a lot of people can get away without an AI too.
If I go get tested on the day I'm supposed to take my second injection (before injection) I test in upper range of t levels but not over.
The key is getting tested at the right times. I've chatted with lots of guys on trt who dose in the 100-150mg a week and they hit mid to upper ranges of T levels.

I'm going to say he is dead wrong about not having kids. Lots of people have kids not only on trt but doing HUGHE cycles. I know a few have said they went off trt to have their kids and then jumped back on. I'm not a doctor so I can't say what is the right thing to do.
I know several people who were in middle of preparing for competitions such as the Arnold and they all managed to knock up GF's or wives while pumping massive amounts of gear through their body. This is going through the 90's- mid 2000's.

Thanks for the replies. I will find out tomorrow the amount/frequency that the Dr recommends. My main concern is doing this and not being able to have kids afterwards-I know my boys work bc we have one kid already that we didnt have to try for. The literature I have read says that guys on HRT are likely to regain fertility like it was pre-HRT. Just looking to hear real world stories and figure out if I need to start looking at getting HCG/clomid to take as well.

My trt is test/hcg/anastrazole. In my case the hcg is just for cosmetics since I've had a vasectomy, but my doctor said it's unethical for him to put someone my age (35 at the time) on trt without it because there were just too many things that could change (deciding to have another kid, insurance, financial situation, where I live, etc).

Do you guys think I should go to another doctor? This one is part of the low t center and that's all they do. I recently relocated to the area and do not have a regular doctor yet. This seemed like a good idea at the time but now second guessing - especially if your dr said its unethical to not prescribe HCG considering my age. This dr just won't prescribe it and said he doesn't encourage treatment if I plan to have more kids but its my choice. That's why I was thinking of doing HCG by myself. This center is so close to the house and convenient - we'll see what they say about dose tomorrow.

I would shop around. As I said, I have a kid, am on HRT, and my wife is incubating the next one. The HCG is really helpful in that regard, as it keeps the testes operating and making the boys.

You need to see what they advocate and price. You can find primaries, euroligist and another type of doc who will treat Low T too. Some I've heard guys found ones that were very progressive compared toost docs and right on par with clinics. A lot of doctors prefers the pumps or gels over injections. So that may be another option or something this place is considering for you. For me it didn't work. I was always worried about exposing my kids too . The doc, I got kids and they like snuggling up next to me, got the okay were switching to injections.
This will be a learning curve for you. If you want a chance of kids down road I would definitely go the hcg route if you can get a doc to listen. Insurances cover it for males. Mine doesn't for fertility treatment but there was something else my doc used to get it covered.
HCG is not that expensive if you have to pay outright either. I thought I was going to get denied and had the script in case so I could price shop. I found a pharmacy who sold 10,000. Iu with a script damn cheap, shipping included.
Other places cater to weight loss groups and they charge triple or more. Fertility pharmacies were outrageous too.

One step at a time and don't rush into anything if it isn't a good for for you.

Ok guys thanks again for the replies- just to update- went and saw another doctor specializing in HRT and he seemed very knowledgable and encouraging. He said bc of my age he wants to try 2 weeks of chlomid to see if my test rises naturally and go from there. His reason being that since I am young he doesn't want to just jump in on test shots bc I will be reliant on them the rest of my life and it will for sure shut down natural test production. I'm not looking to get crazy high test levels although the benefits of that would be nice- we'll see how these two weeks go and if there is no improvement the doctor said that we could get on test shots with HCG then get off when me and the wife decided to try for kid #2.

Well just so u know, OF COURSE CLOMID WILL RAISE UR LEVELS!! its what happends after u stop clomid that needs to be looked at, clomid at 2 weeks wont yield much in the way of finding out if ur test will stay up naturally once ur off it! Using clomid for a type of "restart" of ur htpa, usually takes a few months of usage followed by a few months off clomid to see if ur levels will stay up!

And u CAN GET A CHICK PREGO WHILE ON TRT! I simply added in clomid and upped my hcg, lowere my test shots, and shot it in there :)

Best of luck,

Just to update- 2 weeks on clomid 25mg/day. Blood work today T went up from 232 to 624. Doc was happy with that but wants to run more tests to see where estrogen levels are. He also cut my clomid dose to see of T production has resumed. We will see- to be honest I was hoping that it didnt work and he would just put me on shots but we'll see. Crappy thing is that I feel exactly the same that I did 2 weeks ago. No difference at all.

I'm 42 now. At the same age of 32 as you are now, I was diagnosed with Low-T. My Doc at the time said I was very unlikely that I had low t. He said it was probably stress and other BS going on. You can't fake the symptoms of low-t. My Pops told me to get a second opinion now. So I did. I was at 186 points. Doc put me on test c @ 200mg per week. After six months and a shit loads of blood tests I was good. Diet and exercise plays a big roll. While on TRT we had a daughter. Get a second look..
