I know most of us over 40,are on TRT..But what caused it if not just old age..Like perhaps too much gear for to long..or other factors..Did you go to a Dr. or self medicate?
And at what age did this take place..
Lastly...What negatives have you had to deal with..
This thread is two-fold...
1..to see what our Brothers have gone through..
2..to educate younger user's that think TRT or Cursing is the best way too go..
Well I'm not over 40 but I've been on TRT for years, and not because of steroid use. Figure I can add something useful here.
I started on fertility and testosterone boosting protocols by an endo when I was 23 (I think, might've been 22 when I got the ball rolling). Went through the gamut of HCG, clomid, etc for months before they finally decided to just put me on TRT. Levels were in the high 100's to low 200's at that point.
Why did it happen? I don't really know for sure, but the problems all started happening after my fifth round of the anthrax vaccination. Could be coincidence, but with hearing more and more about long term adverse reactions from vets all over, I think it's not coincidence.
At this point I don't have a script anymore because dealing with the VA is too much of a pain in the ass. So I just self prescribe now.
Negatives: Absurd amounts of body hair, estrogenic side effects as I age, benign prostate hyperplasia (partially genetic but aggravated by the test), and the pain of having to pin at least weekly for 11 years now. So in a nutshell, I have to shave a lot, I have to use aromasin all the time now, I have to take 5mg Cialis EOD so I can piss, and dealing with the hormone fluctuations when I forget to do my shots or traveling or whatever. Otherwise, I'm fine with it. The benefits strongly outweigh the negatives for me.
But remember guys, pinning the rest of your life does suck. Gets annoying after a while. I produce almost zero test now (last check while off was 90ng/dL!) and feel like shit without it.
